Chafariz — Restaurant in Caminha

On a recommendation from the place where we were staying the night, we ate dinner here after a full day on the camino. In other words we were very hungry and would have been happy with a ham sandwich if it had been tasty. Unfortunately, the food here is just not good. We ordered the duck rice and it tasted as if it had been reheated multiple times prior to serving - very dry and with almost-mummified chorizo. The “fresh” shrimp were greasy without much flavor. The appetizer was equally tasteless. The people working at the restaurant were apathetic & it seemed like they want to be anywhere but here. The only plus was the terrace which is in the main square of Caminha, it’s very shaded and pretty. The good news is there are lots of other restaurants in the plaza, spend your hard earned money in one of those places...

Hoje dia 25.09.2024 almocei no restaurante Chafariz em Caminha. Para entrada pedi “gambas à Chafariz”. As gambas já estavam alteradas, com um sabor e textura estranho. No entanto, não comentei nada. Pedi também dois queijos Queru, para barrar no pão, mas apenas consumi um. Eu já era a última cliente no restaurante, eram 14:00 e pouco da tarde. Senti-me incomodada com a presença da empregada loira, que fez questão de me encarar durante quase toda a refeição, no sentido de me querer mandar embora. Não me senti bem recebida no restaurante. Quando pedi a conta, vi que me cobraram os dois queijos e questionei a senhora. Ela voltou para o balcão e retirou um dos queijos. Quando voltou para terminar o pagamento, a empregada loira fez questão de mencionar que tal não era costume do restaurante. Ela disse que como o queijo já tinha saído do frigorífico, eu tinha a obrigação de o pagar. Aproveitei para referir a falta de qualidade das gambas, pois não estavam frescas. Exprimi também o meu desconforto com a maneira como ela me encarava. Só faltava me mandar embora do estabelecimento. Foi aí que ela se exaltou completamente. Ao ponto de me ameaçar, ir atrás do balcão tirar a farda e se dirigir à rua à minha espera. Enquanto eu estava sentada, ela provocou-me diversas vezes, chamando-me para ir ter com ela lá fora, claramente para me agredir. Para me precaver, liguei logo à GNR para apresentar queixa. Entretanto, ela voltou a entrar e continuou a provocação, a mandar-me beijos. Inclusive, voltou a ameaçar-me de que voltaremos a nos encontrar lá fora. O dono do restaurante interviu a favor dela e não teve principios para ver a verdade. Considero de uma extrema falta de respeito, educação e princípios, um restaurante em pleno centro da cidade ter pessoas desse baixo nível a atender o público. Se não tem comida de boa qualidade nem empregados educados, o restaurante já deveria ter fechado há...

The most incredible dessert I ever ate and amazing fresh generous servings of perfectly cooked fish, veal and ribs. A short wait to sit and eat without a booking late on a Saturday night. It’s is worth visiting to see the skills and the incredible service of the staff working in the front of house. Based on the food the kitchen would be the same.
