As you can see in the reply: they don't understand my points (the conecpt is fatal - it doesn't work to serve people who can pay 25€ and other who want to spend 100€ or more for a dinner for two).
Wrong concept, wrong place, wrong gastronomcial self-reflection - you should do this in Lisboa or Oporto, not in Castelo Branco,
Fatal concept and basic mistakes
The restaurant shows a huge wine cellar and extensive "dry aged" beef at the entrance (no fake) and you think this place is a special one.
However the concept fails everywhere: due to its location in residential area the owner need to attract locals with local prices e.g. bottle of local wine 6,5€ but also tries to get "dry aged meat lovers" and "wine lovers" who pay 37,5€/kg and wines for 50-90€/bottle.
This can't work in my eyes!
If you offer Frango for 5€ and pork for 7€ (plus side dishes in this place which are reasonable prices as well) you can't recommend the 37,5€/kg beef and tell to the guest 1-1,5kg are good for 2. Usually 200-300g is one steak for one person!
Same for the wine: our local Reserva for 6,5€ was 15% vol which is too much for dinner in my eyes.
I'm always a bit concered if I can't see the meat what they use for my dishes. Frango is easy to buy during day and just warm up, the "porco preto" also wasn't visible in raw condition somehow and the salad looked like pre-preapared from fast food restaurant.
On top (I am guest only, not in gastro business): wrong glasses for such a body-full wine (was really nice but 15% vol Alc need bigger glasses!) wrong knifes for steak ( I had to "steal" from neighbour table) wrong spoons for sobremesa: soup spoons is for soup not for dessert meat on wooden plates looks nice but if you keep Portuguese style easting from different plates in front of every person, it's not so good (get cold easily, hard to clean later hygenically)
The only good thing in this place is that you don't need to be angry afterwards that you spend too much money - it's reasonable as long as you don't eat the dry aged beef.
In a nutshell: I won't be back and won't recommend to anybody. The concept is fatal (for this location) and I doubt that this place will...
Read moreThe meat was really good, the jamon tasted like palleta but it was from good quality. The side dishes are nothing special, I think there's space to improve in that matter, for instance, the chips that they offer. I could see that their waiters are unexperienced and lack coordenation between each other, maybe they're facing a staff shortage or their staff rotation is high, but it was acceptable. What saved this place, was the quality of the meat, it was very good and well prepared, the time between ordering and getting the food in the table was acceptable. I'll visit this place in the future and hope they're able to improve their modus operati, as I see that their concept has a good future, but they...
Read moreAmazing food! Perfect wine and spotless table service. We arrived at 12:30pm and we could have a table without reservation, we were greeted with a smile and welcomed to choose where to sit. We were recommended the week’s wine and what size steak to choose. I picked the ‘Costeleta de vaca Maturada’. I was shown the meat before grilling for approval. The meat was tender and well presented. The restaurant ‘ s staff were friendly and helpful and we will...
