Kyoto House Coimbra — Restaurant in Coimbra

Really expensive for the lackluster quality.

The restaurant has an hard time getting the basics right. The biggest problem is the rice, which is especially apparent on their classic rolls. Hardly any use of algae or vegetables, with some rolls having too much raw fish to compensate. Most rolls come already with sauce, often featuring cream and/or mayonnaise. It is hard to shake the impression the cook was trying to hide the lack of quality behind strong flavors and visually impressive presentations.

I advice the restaurant to improve their rice and algae management on the classic rolls before developing more complex options. Additionally, the staff could be more friendly and does make some minor mistakes serving the clients.

Reasonable if you want to try some creative rolls, but don't expect too much. Not a place for algae, ginger or wasabi...

the food is not as I expected very poor quality very small portions the fish itself not a good quality and the put poor amount of fish on the sushi the service is zero very slow I asked them few times to give soya and ginger it took ages even the napkins when I asked it is too much ...you sit on the table and being forgettable. and the options is very limited even the things in the menu I ordered and they came back to tell it is not available and it was weekend!!It was my first time entering this restaurant and it is the last time too it is very disappointing experience I am sure to say it was the worst time ever I eat sushi in whole Portugal it is not worth the price (21€ without drinks) it just too much I don't...

Kyoto House in Coimbra is a great spot for lunch, especially if you go for the lunch special.

Just a heads-up: if one person at your table orders the special, everyone has to get the same thing, but you can choose from a wide variety of menu items.

There was way more food than expected, the wine was good, and the sushi was fresh. The only downside was the tempura, which was a bit soggy and lacked the crispy crunch you’d expect. Otherwise, the food was delicious, and I’ll definitely be back.
