While staying at Casa das Muralhas guest house, I made dinner reservations at the restaurant. I had a combination of starters including a delicious creamed vegetable soup with a sprinkling of herbs and nice croutons for crunch. I also tried their Cheese crisp with was a warm local Serra de Estrella (Star Mountain Range) sheep cheese inside a crispy pastry. This was one of the best cheeses I have tasted. My entrée the first night was delicious vegan meatballs with a curry coconut coating served on a bed of flavorful spiced rice with a few purple cauliflower florets for texture, taste and color. Fantastic dish. The second night my entrée was a noodle pasta with sautéed mixed vegetables in a soy ginger broth. Again, this was very flavorful, great texture and a beautiful presentation. My desert the first night was a warm brownie with pecans and assorted fruits moated in a fig preserve and a topping of tangerine sorbet with an additional topping of a fresh physalis. My second night, my desert was an apple crumble topped with vanilla ice cream and surrounded by assorted fruits. The deserts were a combination of textures and sweet and tart flavors that were perfect!
