Memórias Charme Residences — Hotel in Covilhã

During my stay, some of my clothing was damaged after being placed in an industrial dryer on maximum heat by staff at the accommodation. I had asked that this not be done, but unfortunately the items were still dried and several shirts shrank irreversibly. The host later offered a refund of one night, which did not cover the value of the damage.

There were also some maintenance and equipment issues during the stay:

1. The curtains fell down when we tried to close them.
2. The lights flickered intermittently.
3. The kitchen was equipped only with very basic items and lacked some essentials, such as a toaster and sufficient cutlery.
4. Hygiene and cleanliness of towels and bed linen was terrible. Almost everything was stained or had dark spots (see also other Reviews).

The location itself was convenient, but overall the combination of property damage, the lack of adequate resolution, and the maintenance/equipment issues made this a disappointing stay. The place looks better than it is, so don't...

John and Maribelle we're absolutely amazing. The great, unique apartment was wonderful and cozy. They had an incredible breakfast spread from local shops and the best part was Maribelle's delicious homemade jams. John showed us plenty of good restaurants to chose from, even called one to make a reservation for us, and recommended a bunch of good hikes. Maribelle even sent us home with some of her amazing jam. Starting from the helpful guidance of the owner Mr Joao, all the way to the final tips about exploring the neighbouring mountain, admiring the beautiful decoration of the (enormous) room "Tecelao", and the beautiful view over the city and valley, savouring the local delicacies during the breakfast, everything during our stay at Memorias Charme Residence was great !||All for about the same price of a small "plastified" room from the big hotel chains !!||Definitely looking forward to return, maybe next time during the summer to explore the city of Covilha and the Mountain with sunshine instead of the...
