O Buraco — Restaurant in Esposende

This ocean front restaurant is modest and authentic, served delicious and fresh seafood. Clearly it is very popular in Esposende as we had to wait a while for a table and it turned out to be worthwhile. I particularly enjoyed the seafood displace case where you can see the fresh catch and know that’s the chef’s fridge! The seafood rice dish was truly umami bombs delivered by the shellfish(crab, prawns, shrimps, mussels, etc). Every bite is with natural essence of the seafood. The staff was very friendly. "If you want to know a place in Esposende for great pescado and mariscos, go to O Buraco". This is the recommendation we got today, and nothing to say about it.

The entradas are served unreaquested once you are seated at the table: do not touch them if you don't want to be charged. We ordered water and vinho verde, then 2 fish soups 👍, a portion of sardines 👍👍, and the two octopus on the menu 👍👍👍, those ones came with plenty of side dishes (baked potatoes, fresh fried potatoes and cabbage). Fabulous, authentic restaurant. No nonsense. Long wait -worthwhile. Great food - tenderloin was very juicy and the rice with shellfish (Arroz de marisco) was tasty indeed. Very pleasant and patient waiters and waitresses for us struggling with the language. Only one young man spoke excellent English when we were there.
