Restaurante Foz do Cávado — Restaurant in Esposende

We came here during a relatively busy period in the summer. We sat down and ordered our food without issues. Where the issue started was that after around 30 minutes of waiting without getting our food we started getting tired of waiting for our food, no one who worked there gave us any updates on delays or anything. After around 40 minutes of waiting I myself asked for an update regarding our orders. We were told it was a busy period for them and they apologized. But this was rather strange because people who arrived after us and ordered the same as us got their food before us.. Regardless, after we finally got our food it was really disappointing, especially for the price (which for the area is pretty pricey)

I ordered the "Bife Pimento", the beef itself was actually really nice. The part which ruined the dish for the most part was the sauce. It was extremely salt to the point where it was inedible.

"Bife a Portugeza 1 Pessoa" was also ordered, the thing with this dish which was really disappointing was the serving of fries. It was around 10 fries..

For people looking for a decent place to eat at and enjoy your time here in Esposende, I definitely do not recommend eating here. As it lies on the pricey side and the food was very mediocre. There are better places in the area with better...

I don’t like writing negative reviews, but I also don’t know who these other people are writing these reviews giving this restaurant 4 or 5 stars. I will describe the evening and leave it to those reading to decide if this establishment merits 4-5 stars.

We were sat down at a table by a waitress whose demeanour could be described as disinterested, at best. We were served day old, stale bread. We ordered soup and ricois as well as bolos de bacalhau. The soup was ok but the salty pastries had clearly been pre-fried and were re-warmed in a microwave.

Our main courses were: cabrito that was rubbery, with “oven-roasted potatoes” which were very clearly fried. We also ordered Rojões which was served cold and frankly, the meat was not very good.

In each course, the waitress said little, did not ask how the meal was, and it took 10 minutes to sign her down before we could get our bill.

That was our experience. The lone bright spot was that the entire meal was...

Incredibly unfriendly boss/owner. When we wanted to sit and eat something outside, he said that outside is “closed” even tho it had empty tables and others were sitting there and eating. Went to a place next door instead, where they are much more welcoming and even gave us a reserved table. Don’t support this kind of attitude - apparently he’s already a rich man and can afford to kick out customers...
