Miramar - Restaurante Mediterrâneo — Restaurant in Funchal

TLDR; mislabelled menu allergens, poor service, mediocre food, wrong bill, some food okay.

Positives: Restaurant was clean, lamb stew (although a small portion) was tasty.

Negatives: Menu was mislabelled- each dish shows allergens so one member of our party ordered a dish specifically labelled to be made without milk, and it was served with dairy cream on top. Service was performative & poor, drinks were kept away from the table and topped up by servers but there were not enough staff to complete this to a good standard so you were often left waiting with an empty glass. One of the main dishes was tasty (lamb stew) the other was pasta which was very oily and not flavourful at all. Disappointing considering the reviews we had read. As soon as the restaurant got busier (~1/2 capacity) service significantly worsened, we asked for the bill and waited for quite a while until we had to go up to the front desk, as they had forgotten. When asking for the bill, the one we were provided with was wrong and had to be corrected.

On a trip to Madeira, we decided to book a table here on the terrace. When we arrived, the staff decided we would be inside because they didn't want to set a table outside (despite our reservation outside). The food was good, but unfortunately I couldn't finish my dishes because they came to take away our plates before I could even finish. Only 45 minutes passed between the aperitif, the starter, and the main course. Having taken a bottle of red wine to taste, we had to finish it without anything at the end of the meal because the staff were rushing us. I do not recommend the experience despite the quality of the food. And of course we paid €4.50 for tap water in a nice bottle to end the evening in style :)...

Lovely meals and refreshments. Staff were very polite and entertaining. Would recommend...
