Having read some good reviews I was really looking foward to eating here, but now I have been, I have no idea was all the fuss is about. We ordered a whole chicken, large tomato salad and large chips, a diet coke and a beer, total bill 34 euros. When the chicken arrived we thought we must have been given a half portion by mistake but as no one came over to check on us, so we didn't get to ask until we got the bill. The chicken was mostly very small bones and hardly any meat, it wasn't enough chicken for one person let alone two. Felt very ripped off when paying 14.50 euros for just the chicken on it's own. It didn't even taste that flavoursome either. When we asked about the portion size, we were told it was a whole chicken but was a baby chicken, well it must have just hatched as was so small! The previous day we had a full plate of food (chicken, chips and salad) for 9 euros near the market at Frango do mercado 2, that was a good portion and flavoursome. Don't bother wasting...
Read moreJust okay. The ladies who served us were so friendly, pity about the chap who had control of the til. I asked for the bill but gave up after a fifteen minute wait and walked to the bar (everything takes a bit of time here but that is okay). The guy on the cash register presented me a bill before i had even spoken with him. No conversation nor asked if everything was okay. Not sure why there are so many fawning reviews. I have travelled extensively through Portugal and have had a lot of chicken from different Churruscuria's. Most have bigger portions for half chickens than the full 'Frango' on offer here and at a much cheaper price. The food was tasty but not sure it is any value at the price. I think it is a 'catch the tourists once and move on' type joint, which is a pity as I had high hopes and a good experience before meeting the staff member manning the...
Read moreNot Nandos in the slightest. Yes they do chicken... fullstop. The waiting staff are not the friendliest and seemed more interested in selling add ons such as garlic bread before you're offered a drink. I will add here not a drinks menu in sight. After ordering I'm having mixed salad pushed on me also.
We both order the half chicken and fries, the waitress nearly said something but stopped herself. What came was cut up pieces of chicken that to me tried to disguise the fact that they were keeping the breast meat aside and serving up thigh, back and wings. I think she was going to suggest a full chicken shared but then thought about the extra revenue.
Not much else to add, fries undercooked and general underwhelming feel about the whole affair. The people on here likening this place to Nandos...have you been to...
