What a lovely experience. We went to Tróia for a long weekend, and we did not know the food scenery all that well. As we were walking around the marina area for a place to eat, all places were full, and most of them made a point to basically say "too bad, you should have made a reservation", not in so many words. Then we came across this place, where one of the owners welcomed us and explained how they were full, but they had a few tables vacating and how many people in front, expected waiting times, and pointed to the lounge area, where we could enjoy a drink while waiting. The welcome disclaimer was a perfect way to prepare us for such a nice dining experience, mostly around tapas. They have a couple of options for children as well. We had the codfish patties with tomato rice (the owner recommended) and they were absolutely divine, to a point where we had seconds! Totally worth it. The alheira croquetes are delicious as well. The octopus carpaccio was also a pleasant surprise. But definitely worth going there just for the codfish patties and the tomato rice! They are just delicious! See the photos! If you are in the area, I would recommend going there, but do make sure you have a reservation if you do not want to wait. The service was excellent, friendly, and the atmosphere is quite nice as well. They have a great choice of...
Read moreWent today for drinks and a little appetizer … The place was empty and we took a seat in the outside area kinda-sofa… According to the 2 clueless (boy and girl) staff, that place we would like to sit was only for drinks … they actually denied the request when I asked the 2nd and 3rd time. The lady I was with: 80 years old, they wanted us to sit in a very much uncomfortable high seat just because “the outside place I asked was only for drinks”!!! What the hell!!! The girl: in the most irrespectable, unprofessional and authoritarian, unwelcoming possible way actually gestured in a totally unacceptable way to move! We smiled and left! That didn’t even deserve my energy…
These little idiots, who have no idea that hostility doesn’t go with hospitality should NEVER be allowed to work in public services!
We went to the next door place and we were extremely well treated and welcomed in a kind and polite manner…
Ohh, by the way, we got plenty of drinks, food, they got the money and tip....
Read moreThe menu is weird - it’s hard to understand where are main courses, where are starters etc. But it’s not the main issue. We were in a group of 7, and it took us 15 minutes to explain what we want to order to the waiter. And it’s still not the main issue. The main issue is food. There was a dish called “soft crab”. In fact it was something like fish pate with a strong fish smell and no crab in it. Seafood risotto - over-boiled rice and two shrimps. Sirloin steak-sandwich - it’s a chuckle. Thin slice of steak and bread. No sauce, no cheese or something else. Just like the one you can order on Lisbon streets for 2€. But this one costed 14€. To order more water or wine we had to ask three times. It was the worst spent 100€ (for me and my wife) for the food. May be we were just unlucky and the choice of dishes was bad. But I really don’t want to experiment with this...
