RIA Restaurant — Restaurant in Loulé

My partner and I went for dinner, service was fantastic until we were asked what room we were staying in, we said we are staying in the residence apartments next door, after that the service went completely down hill. We waited for 45 minutes after our main course and no one asked us did we want anything or a desert menu, we had to ask for the bill, we paid card and who I assume was the manger came to us with the card machine and just stood beside my partner and said “machine” and held it beside him. We spent €185 and to be treated so badly was disgusting. I wouldn’t recommend unless you are staying in the hotel as they clearly don’t want others there, if you are in the hotel they will really look after you and come to the table regularly to ask are you ok do you need anything.. I watched this tonight as the staff just walked straight past us. I must say the gentleman man who served the food was very nice and a young lady serving also but the rest were including the manger mad us feel like we were clearly unwanted. I have been coming to the residence apartments for 12 years and have never be treated like this in any other establishment from the marina to albuferia nor in the hotel last year or when it was Hotel Victoria before the Anantara. Lovely restaurant - we went there for dinner when staying at the Victoria Anantara Hotel to have some seafood with an algarve touch as described by hotel staff.

Food: it is below average and underwhelming for a restaurant in a hotel with this high status. Fried Calamari was overcooked, making it very chewy! Potato and French Fries OVERCOOKED TOO!! Seabass wasn’t too bad luckily, as we were starving. However it was bland and nothing special. I have had seafood in algarve, especially seabass and it differently tastes better from local restaurants. Basically food was a let down.

Service: staff super nice, attentive and helpful. However, it reached to a point where they were standing over our shoulders to keep checking if we are okay and didn’t need anything else. It was slightly annoying to be fair hence 4/5 for service, otherwise it would have been a solid 5/5.

Atmosphere: perfect from all aspects - view, music choice/loudness, layout of tables not too crowded, romantic set up with the lights and pool. Fantastic.

To be honest we would have dined there again if it wasn’t for the food. Definitely needs to...

We have visited many times now and has always been top notch with service that is on par if not better than any London restaurant. Today I had oysters and they were the best I’ve ever had . The are sourced from the Ria Formasa that is literally only a few miles away !...
