Had a meal here with my wife and 2 year old son while on a short break in Portugal.
The staff are polite and friendly with well spoken english making it easy for us and the look and feel of the restuarant is nice.
We ended up ordering 9 Tapas and chips for our son as that is all he will eat, and though the waiter told us this will be too much, we appreciated his help but still went ahead as we like to sample different foods.
All of the dishes were yummy, the only thing i would say is the mixed seafood with chorizo etc was a little too salty, but i think this is with all Portugal restaurants, they like their salt out here and doesn't mean its bad, just we dont have that much salt usually in our meals.
The prawns with garlic and chilli was not what we expected, we thought it was going to be pil pil style where its sizzling and peeled prawns, but we still ate the dish and enjoyed it, just prefer it pil pil style.
Our favourite was the potatos with egg and truffle - this was truely delicious, something we never tried before, so simple but so perfect!
The steak, the meatballs the cheese the patatas bravas, the deep fried brie the bread everything was delicious and we enjoyed it very much, probably the best meal we had during our stay in Portugal of 5 days.
Only negative was the calamari, they were the bog standard onion ring looking things, and were not to the high standard of all the other dishes - i would suggest either removing it from the menu or finding a better product...
Our bill came to €92, it sounds pricey but dont forget we ordered MUCH MORE than an average couple would plus we had dessert, big bottle water and 2 pots of mint tea too - we were happy to drop €100 here as we were left smiling and satisfied with what he had got, and our 2 year old son had fun playing around and being free to be a kid, plus he ate all his chips!
Not sure if we will be back to this part of Portugal again, but if we ever are, will definitely stop by for another...
Read moreI have mixed feelings about this restaurant. The decor and ambiance were stunning, the wine selection excellent (Chianti, Rioja, and Porto wines that you can get in a glass or bottle…), the food was good overall and I loved the creamy mussels and chips. My husband and I initially agreed we’d return. However, several issues gave us pause.
First, some items felt overpriced, like a plain red sangria for €25—more expensive than a Chianti?! which seemed odd. The cheese and meat boards were also underwhelming for the price (€16 for normal-quality cheese and 10 Euros for average cured meats with too many red spices mostly and too many crackers). While other food portions were generally generous, the boards selections were a bit disappointing and I think other customers mentioned this issue in another review.
But what truly soured the experience, though, was the waitress’s attitude. From the start, she was cold, unwelcoming, and seemed dismissive, which felt tied to our skin color. For example, when we asked about a bread served at another table, she rudely told us it was only for Indian dishes. While we understood, her tone was unpleasant. Initially, we thought it might be her personality, but she was noticeably warmer with British and Portuguese customers. This double standard extended to her treatment of a Brazilian colleague of her, reinforcing a sense of superiority which I didn’t like at all.
In 2024, such behavior is unacceptable. All customers deserve respect, and this experience made us want to leave as soon as possible. It’s a shame because the restaurant had potential, but this kind of treatment makes it hard to recommend or return. I hope the management addresses...
Read moreI have to change unfortunately my 5 stars review which I gave it to this place for the first time 3, 5 years ago. This time everything was a completely disappointment.. The portions of food were so extremely small, the wine so minimal in the glass.. it is so sad because this place lost its charm I guess because the chefs became more greedy, want more money for very overpriced small portions.
We love Portuguese people because they are the best restaurant hosts. They treat you like a part of you family, 99% of places in Portugal are a great experience, never giving the minimum, just giving the best for the customer... Unfortunately, this place over the years changed their focus on just gaining more money, restaurant money making machine and not a place where you come with pleasure. We will definitely not come back. It's not a authentic place. Changed to...
