Terra Mar — Restaurant in Mafra

It was dark, evening, around 8 PM in March, was raining heavily, I was driving with not much visibility, a hungry family and not many resturaunt options. We chose this place based on a quick Google review search. Worse decision I could make. They exploited me in my most vulnerable situation, e.g overselling starters as complimentary items, which we didn't even eat, a lot of attitude as if we were free loaders, and cramming main platters onto us without properly explaining what the dishes were. After over a 100 euro bill for 3 adults and a child, we left the place feeling terrible, promising ourselves never to go back there, and probably to this city as well.

Frankly speaking, I came to the restaurant with the lowest expectations. But we were amazed by the decent quality of service and food

The waiters there were rather attentive, checking up on us all the time, cleaning up and asking if there anything they can do

We ordered a portion of rich soup (5/5) which was ample for a group of four persons

my friend asked for a veggie soup which was nice too

We also enjoyed raw oysters (5/5), shrimps (4/5) and freshly grilled fish Dourado (5/5) and finalised with ice cream cake (3/5)

The only thing that was really disturbing us was the sound of hammers as the guests at other tables, as they were hammering away at their crabs all at the same time with no music playing in the hall

Absolutely fantastic fish & seafood restaurant. This place was recommended by our host and it did not disappoint. The waiter was very attentive and took the time to explain the menu and provide recommendations. We ordered both the soup and the seafood rice and both were absolutely fantastic (and this is coming from someone who's usually not a seafood fan). Make sure to ask for the home-made spicy oil. It transforms the dish into something even more outstanding. The prices are average but the portions are generous and rich in ingredients so the value is excellent. Desert was also very good.
