Don’t ever go as a family. The staff are not welcoming at all. If you’re with a group of friends, you might have an okay, but overpriced meal—nothing like the typical abundance and delight you find in Portugal. The cod fillet was full of bones, making it difficult to eat. A glass of the cheapest wine costs €3.50, which is expensive for a small town in Portugal. When we went with a baby, the staff were rude and seemed more interested in getting rid of us than welcoming a customer. They offered us a table upstairs and complained when we declined because of the pram. They stared at our crying baby, though the other guests seemed unbothered. Surprise, surprise—babies cry. The staff looked relieved when my husband took the baby outside and then asked me twice why I was leaving without dessert when eating alone. Despite seeing that I was in a hurry, the bill took ages. Once the baby was out of the picture, they no longer seemed to want to get rid of me, but remained as uncooperative as ever. I don’t understand why this place has such good ratings. Perhaps if everyone in your group is over 18, they treat you properly....

This has to be one of the most enjoyable places to eat in the area. I have been coming here for over four years now. The staff are very accommodating for parties, couples, kids, and families. The beef on a sizzling hot stone ( bife na pedra ) which you cook yourself never fails to please everyone that I know. The red wine from the Douro is always delicious. There are 4 or 5 tables in the tiny alley outside the restaurant, great in fair weather, and about 15 tables indoors on two floors. The food is to die for. A posta maronesa is super good. Some people came here only to eat it. 😜

Posta na pedra is a full experiment. A kid ate it and had a lot of fun doing it.

This is a restaurant that we will be very keen to come back to anytime. It's not super expensive either so you're able to comfortably take starters and desserts after. With that and a couple of bottles of wine our bill was lower than...
