recently dined at a very small sushi restaurant in the picturesque coastal town of Nazaré. Despite its limited space, the restaurant managed to create a cozy and intimate atmosphere that perfectly complemented the seaside location.
Starting with the eel, it was unfortunately a letdown. The flavor was bland, and the texture left much to be desired. It was somewhat frozen, lacking the tender, melt-in-your-mouth quality that good eel should have. I would recommend skipping this dish if you visit.
The maguro tuna was also not extraordinary, and while it was fresh, it lacked the wow factor. The slices were generous, and it paired well with the accompanying soy sauce and wasabi, but it didn't stand out.
The highlight of the meal, however, was the salmon. It was simply exquisite. Each piece was rich, buttery, and practically dissolved on the tongue. The freshness of the salmon was evident, and it stood out as the star of the meal. I would return to the restaurant just for this dish alone.
Overall, while the eel was disappointing and the maguro tuna was merely okay, the exceptional quality of the salmon made the visit worthwhile. If you're in Nazaré and craving sushi, I would suggest focusing on the salmon for an unforgettable experience. Just be prepared for a very small dining area, which adds to the charm but may require a...
Read moreWhat can I say about this place!!! First off we came here for 3 of our 6 dinners in nazare, sure didn't plan on that but when our kids started eating things here they don't normally dare try , we knew we could count on filling their bellies here. Now , us being from Vancouver b.c. we are a little spoiled when it comes to sushi , we get great quality at good prices if you know where to look (used to be super cheap before 2022 inflation). So I do have some critiques, and that would be that their vegi tempura is really not impressive, we're used to sweet potato, carrot, zucchini, and my favorite brocoli. The green beans and thin strips of "who knows what" just don't cut it. Their menu is limited. They have NO edamame! I've tried a number of items there, among which were the tuna tacos that were not that bad. The nigiri Toro was amazing, 13$ for 4. The gyoza were so good. The dragon roll was very good. We found the kabuki II (50$) platter to be the best value. It was a solid example of sushi, although it's heavy on the salmon sashimi throughout, you can't really complain about that!! The red wine sangria was also the best...
Read moreWe tried the most highly reviewed sushi restaurant in Nazaré…ok, it may be the only sushi restaurant in Nazaré. But it was so good. We had reservations for early Saturday evening (19:00), and were the first ones at the restaurant for dinner. The menu looked fabulous, and we ended up selecting Hot Vegetariano, Crunch Sake and Maguro Tartar (pictured). We had never had hot sushi before and both the Hot Vegetariano and the Crunch Sake were warm with a crunchy outside. The Crunch Sake was salmon-based and it was good. The star of the show was the Maguro tartar. We did not expect it to come as it did and it was awesome. Avocado on the bottom, chunks of tuna in the middle, topped with a generous amount of roe with quail egg to finish. It was delightful. I also had the Elderberry Gin to drink and it was so good I could easily have had two, or three, or four. €44 and it was well worth it! Location (just across the street from Nazaré beach will make this a reservation-must place as the weather gets nice. Can’t...
