Restaurante Bar Picatapa — Restaurant in Odemira

Found the spot cause we were looking for a original Portuguese Tasca that used to be around there and as we were checking the spot the waitress came to catch us outside. We didn’t wanted to come in and we said clearly (in perfect Portuguese, I lived there for years) that we weren’t hungry and only wanted a wine and a small bite and asked (clearly and carefully) if they had petiscos/tapas, and they said yes . we agreed to enter allthough and we repeated again that we only wanted something small. but still they lied to us and just brought us two big dishes saying that it were their “small bites”, but afterwards cashing it as a very very expensive main dish. Not even we felt cheated, the quality was terrible. And also, they were closing the place fast after that, really rushing us out to leave before we had time to finish it and our wine. When I approached what I felt honestly to the service, she ignored us. It was a unpleasant experience, unnecessary way to make us trick cash and to turn a nice evening into a game of money, a revival of how and why our city’s all around and their gastronomy are losing quality. It isn’t about the tourists and travelers that are visiting,neither about the ones that live from that tourism in a responsible way, but the ones that try to take advantage in a bad way; taking any chance to take you for stupid, trying to make more money than they should, just cause they think “they can” and we “don’t know”. Their strategy is, I guess , to trick you cause you wont come back anyway, cause you are just “passing by”. Only that we do keep coming back to the city a lot and we know other amazing places and the difference to compare. I would recommend you all not to eat here if possible. Basic looking restaurant both inside and outside, with enjoyable dishes. It seemed that there was someone missing in the service, since only one girl had to take the orders inside and outside, pour drinks, serve out food and do the payments. She worked very hard, but it took very long to get our drinks. When she was joined by a second waitress later that evening, it all went much quicker. I guess it was an incident, but nevertheless our experience. The food was of good quality. We especially enjoyed the mussels picatapa style and pimentos padron. The translations on the English menu were unfortunately not all correct, as cod fish omelette turned out to be salted cod fish salad. Could also be a problem with the language barrier, but nevertheless a tasty dish. The fried baby 🐙 was a bit too heavily breaded and therefore quite fatty. Enjoyable experience. Nothing...

Não recomendado de todo. Infelizmente não costumo dar críticas negativas mas acho que se impõe neste caso para evitar que outros sejam enganados como eu fui. Entrei sem ler as críticas anteriores e bem me arrependi. Parecia ser um sítio agradável com um atendimento simpático. O empregado foi mesmo a única coisa positiva neste espaço mas até este estragou tudo no final, mas já lá vamos. Quando chegámos o restaurante estava quase vazio mas mesmo assim perguntaram-nos pela reserva. Jogada de marketing para nos fazer ficar agradecidos por nos terem arranjado mesa. Menu em papel não há - ainda estão a testar os pratos, foi a desculpa. Existe uma ardósia na parede mas vários pratos lá escritos já estavam esgotados. Havia ainda um bacalhau à casa que não estava na ardósia, logo de preço não divulgado. Assim como as entradas e as bebidas também de preços não expostos em lado nenhum. Tudo isto devia-me ter levado a desconfiar mas como já era o terceiro restaurante onde tentava sem sucesso jantar, decidi tentar. Grande asneira. Pedimos um polvo à lagareiro e um bacalhau da casa. O polvo estava rijo, mal cozinhado e vinha acompanhado de duas batatas assadas , uma cenoura e um pedaço de brócolos. Sabor não consensual. O bacalhau da casa é um bacalhau à minhota, frito com cebolada e batatas fritas às rodelas. Com bom sabor mas uma posta de tamanho ridículo para o preço. Sim porque este lembro que era o tal prato que não estava na ardósia nem tinha preço afixado. Acresce que esperámos uma hora para ser servidos. No entretanto serviram um pão (duro) com azeitonas (o melhor da noite) e um queijo misto de borba. No fim, tivemos a grata surpresa de ao receber a conta constatar que o preço do polvo tinha aumentado 0,50€, de 16,50€ na parede para 17€ na factura. O mesmo preço do bacalhau. E quanto à sangria? 16€ por um litro de sangria. Embora boa, não era de espumante, logo preço exagerado. O pior e a razão para dar uma estrela foi o erro (intencional ou não) na factura. Depois de serem chamados à atenção por duas mesas que o preço na factura não correspondia ao afixado, desculparam-se com uma alteração feita pelo patrão e ainda disseram “erros acontecem”. Pois acontecem mas corrigem-se logo, não se pergunta ao cliente se quer que devolvam os 0,50€, faz-se a correção na hora. Agora imaginem se eu fosse fiscal da ASAE...
