Mil Reis, AL — Hotel in Odemira

I stayed here for one night while hiking the Rota Vicentina. Boy was I tired when I arrived – but everybody was so friendly. I realized I wasn’t going to make it four days with my huge backpack and they gave me the name of the company to book transport of my big bag (note - this is totally worth it. Spare yourself the hardcore points and just keep a day pack). The reception actually called the place for me to find out pricing (review of this to follow once my trip is done). My room was spotless although small (though some people I met while hiking said they had a suite and it was spacious). The size was totally fine for me. Location was very central - close to the beach and restaurants. Breakfast the following morning was very good and in addition to the typical continental offerings they also cooked us eggs. A real selling point of this place is the rooftop where there’s a beautiful view of the beach and sunset...or so I hear. I unfortunately missed this as I fell asleep but some co-hikers let me know it was great. Overall a great spot in Vila Nova...

Beim "Mil Reis" handelt es sich um ein kleines, sehr nettes Hotel bzw. Pension in der Altstadt von Vila Nova de Milfontes. Das Hotel ist wirklich sehr empfehlenswert; weitere Details s.u.||Lage & Umgebung|Mitten in der Altstadt von Vila Nova de Milfontes. Parkmöglichkeiten direkt am Hotel gibt es keine; man kann in den umliegenden Straßen parken bzw. an einem größeren Parkplatz in der Nähe und läuft nie länger als 5 Minuten vom Hotel.|Von Lissabon aus sind es ca. 200km und 2h Fahrt mit dem Auto.|In der näheren Umgebung gibt es Strände, einen im / am Ort, einen (empfehlenswert: Praia da Furnas) erreicht man mit dem Auto in 10 Minuten.|Das Hotel liegt direkt in der Altstadt von V N de Milfontes. In kürzester Zeit erreicht man Cafés, Restaurants etc.||Zimmer|Wir hatten die "Suite" gebucht. Der geringe Aufpreis lohnt sich auf jeden Fall, da die "Suiten" deutlich größer sind als die normalen Doppelzimmer. Neben einem frisch renovierten Bad hatten wir einen kleinen Vorraum mit Zugang zum sehr großen und schönen Balkon. Das Schlafzimmer (mit Kühlschrank) ist relativ geräumig, die Betten und Kissen empfanden wir als sehr bequem. Vom "Marktplatz" haben wir nicht viele Geräusche wahrgenommen. Man konnte das Zimmer nahezu komplett abdunkeln.|Wifi/WLAN ist vorhanden und funktioniert super. Einen kleinen TV (den wir nicht genutzt haben) gibt es auch.||Service|Alle Fragen wurden sofort und kompetent beantwortet. Die Reklamation zur Dusche wurde umgehend bearbeitet. Alles top! Alle Mitarbeiter sind sehr sehr freundlich!||Gastronomie|Im Hotel gibt es nur Frühstück. Der Frühstücksraum ist direkt an der Rezeption; klein aber fein. Die Auswahl ist gut. Es gibt Brötchen, Aufschnitt, Konfitüre und man wird gefragt, ob man Rührei haben möchte. Getränke (Tee, Kaffee, OSaft, Wasser) gibt es ebenso wie z.B. frisches Obst oder Tomate & Mozarella. Man wird satt und es schmeckt.||Sport & Unterhaltung|Das Hotel bietet keine Freizeitangebote im klassischen Sinne, da es sich mehr um eine Pension handelt. 😩 Bad experience. Don't get fooled by their pictures made on "wide mode". The reality is that you'll get a small room, with no privacy. You can't even fit a small travel bag, see photos. Bathroom is small and cheaply built, you'll have to build a dam in order to not have water in your room, coming from underneath the so called bathroom door, which provides anything but discretion. You can hear any fart or small noose coming from any of the other rooms, as well as from the bathroom. I don't even want to go into the other details like receptionist poor trained or poor breakfast.
