Madrasta — Restaurant in Oeiras

We visited this restaurant on November 28! We did not book a table in advance, but we were kindly offered a comfortable table for two by the window. We had been traveling around Portugal for a week and had already formed an opinion about the food and the country. But this establishment impressed us the most. The service was excellent. , the staff were very attentive and friendly. Personally, I am foodie and I love to cook myself, these dishes were simply unreal 😎😍The meat was soft and perfectly cooked, carrot puree that accompanied - it was just wow, I have never tasted anything like it, I cannot describe how delicious it was, the puree was very tender and airy! Lasagna was something new in general. It was super tasty, my boyfriend and I agreed that this was the best restaurant from our entire journey of Portugal. We visited a multiple restaurant in multiple cities and this one came up on top 🫶🏼 We also wanted to say that the this restaurant really cares about there guests, the restaurant was busy that evening, there were a lot of orders, our rice that we ordered was cooked a little too salty, we asked to change the dish, if possible. In the end, we did not pay for the rice, it was not included in the bill. This moment did not upset us at all, since all the dishes were of royal quality and taste. Moreover, they brought us a free dessert, chocolate tiramisu. I will tell you that this is the best tiramisu in my life, 😇after this tiramisu it will be impossible to eat anything else. It was so light and fluffy like a cloud from the sky😋🤤We left the restaurant full and satisfied with our evening. We will be happy to visit the restaurant again if we are in Portugal. Really amazing job from the moment you enter the door till you finish your meal, couldn’t make enough complements to everyone on the team that interacted with us.

The main letdown, and it might be a matter of personal taste, was really the food, mainly taking in consideration the level that the group accustomed us to. Starting with the “Pica-pau”, although with a really tasty sauce, both the meat quality and most of all the dose size can’t justify the asked price imho. Moving to the pizza, unfortunately was way too “tomatty” for my taste, and it was a shame not to be able to taste any other of the ingredients that were definitely top quality. Any of the ones from Pasta Non Basta will outshine this 1000x. Finally the mushroom dish was really a missed opportunity to what sounded like a really good idea. The fries were blend almost making you miss frozen ones from the supermarket, and the mushrooms themselves plain tasteless :( .

Again cannot praise enough the service, and am 100% sure that eventually they’ll get the menu right.

Will return soon hopefully to add this location to my group-fanboy list, from this experience I just cannot justify the price difference with the food quality mainly comparing with the rest of Grupo Non...

The location is amazing with amazing views on the roof terrace and large shades outside area on the ground floor. It has everything to be the perfect lunch spot.

It's a shame the service was poor. Standing to be seated with kids for over 10 mins while staff walk straight past us. When I asked for a seating, it seemed like an inconvenience and told upstairs was the only place with a table and promised shade (we had a large double pram) so we left it and was sent upstairs and just left to our own devices has to ask for kids chairs again and struggles to move umbrellas for shade for the kids.

The waitress had all good intentions but pretended to understand what we were asking and explained we would need certain food allergies, but she did not understand and just said "no" to each thing we asked... Eventually managed to explain. When asking for sparkling water she brought flat, before opening we asked if it was sparkling she smiled and said "Yes". It was flat. We asked for the bill she smiled and said yes and left so we had to ask again.

When leaving we found our large heavy pram was moved to the bottom of the stairs so struggled to get it back up with a baby in arm while staff walked past and watched.

Not the nicest experience, probably suffering from how popular they are due...
