Visited one week after opening and was hoping this would be a good experience and a regular place as I own an apartment close to the marina. The complex is fantastic but bamboo restaurant is far from being a regular restaurant for me. The place looks great and the location is fantastic but at that point it's all downhill . I judge a restaurant on service, food and price. The greeting was very basic and the service was trying to be something it could not live up to, the manageress was not in control Of the restaurant even when only 7 tables where occupied. The wait staff had basic training and kept making mistakes throughout the night. Other members of staff took breaks and eat food in full view of people dining. Dj is setting up next to people dining . Staff rearranging half the restaurant as you or trying to enjoy yourself. Music was too loud (are you a restaurant or bar). Food was of a below average standard, starter plate was very disappointing for €36 , 2 spring rolls the best on the plate, deep fried parcels over done, tempura prawns we're soggy, main course was pineapple fried rice, presentation was a hollowed out half of pineapple and the rice was dry and no flavour. The special curry was Probably the worst I have ever tasted. So in summary one bottle of water, glass of vino one shared starter and two main course was €85 Plus a service charge. I have been going to portugal for 12 years and have had meals at hundreds of restaurant in different locations and hands down the worst experience I have had. Save your money and make your way into town and eat good food at...
Read moreI had the opportunity to dine at Bamboo Restaurant in Olhão, and my gastronomic experience was simply incredible. The restaurant captivated me from the very beginning with its elegance and the exceptional quality of the dishes served, which surprisingly exceeded my expectations in relation to the price.
I started my meal with the Bamboo sharing plate, which proved to be an excellent beginning. All the dishes were well-crafted, and the attention to presentation and flavor was evident. For the main courses, I opted for the Bamboo-style Duck and the Chicken Massamang, both of which were extremely delicious. The combination of flavors and spices was truly remarkable.
The highlight of the evening was the sparkling wine sangria, which was the best I've ever had. The restaurant staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making our experience even more enjoyable. Bamboo's ambiance is elegant and balanced, with hints of its Asian origins, creating a unique atmosphere. Additionally, the presence of a DJ made the night even more memorable, creating an explosion of flavors on our palates.
For dessert, I was treated to fantastic options served in an elegant manner. The owner of the establishment is a lovely and very friendly person, adding a personal and warm touch to our visit.
I intend to return to Bamboo to try the sushi, as it has been highly recommended by friends. This gastronomic experience was truly exceptional and left me eager to return and explore more dishes at this...
Read moreWe had drinks here initially and were impressed with service and location. On review of the menu we decided to stay for food and our 4 children joined us. All of a sudden the service diminished and it was very poor. Took us to request to order food after 35minutes of receiving menus. We waited a further 45min to receive food with no check in for drinks etc. all in all we came here based on reviews and were very dissatisfied. I paid €15.50 for children’s chicken “goujons” which came as 1 chicken goujon cut up. You would have received more in a McDonald’s happy meal. Totally over priced and very poor. Food although tasted good was completely inadequate. Pad Thai, 4 small prawns with a plate of noodles. For the prices they are charging this is completely over priced and inadequate. We have eaten in establishments all over the world and totally understand you pay for location etc but have always received food comparable to the environment, this fell short. On speaking with the waiter we were informed that they charge what they do based on the level of the establishment. We merely requested our feedback went to management and paid the bill. We found the waiter to be very rude and seemed more interested in 4 women ordering cocktails. I would completely stay clear of your looking for good food in a friendly environment . You can eat better quality food in Olhao and receive amazing service for a quarter...
