O Bistrô Dos Amigos — Restaurant in Olhão

I had lunch here with my OH because the weather was bad and it was close to our apartment. So glad we did. It's a small place and was busy but they were happy to accommodate us without a booking. The food is classical French, simple but simply delicious. Everything is cooked fresh from scratch so they can accommodate variations to the menu. My husband had steak and chips with Roquefort sauce and I had steak tartare. We both had crepes for dessert. The staff were very friendly and took time to chat despite being very busy. Sometimes you find a place so good that you want to keep it a secret. But O Bistro Dos Amigos is too good not to share. Super friendly team with Louis and Andrea providing wonderful service (and impressive language skills!) overseen by maman, whilst papa is the driving force in the kitchen. Unusually for Olhao, it’s typically French, but welcoming to all nationalities. The food is superb and authentic (they make trips back to France to source certain products) and very reasonably priced, with a lunchtime menu alongside the a la carte. Lovely little Bistro in the Marina Apartments block. We are frequent visitors to Olhão and had been a little sad to see the Portuguese Tacho D'Avó leave and be reincarnated as this Bistro - but it's turned out to be a fabulous successor. Evertyhing is made with skill and care from scratch, the set lunches are utterly delicious - and there are other options if you don't see something you'd like on the plat du jour. Good selection of both French and Portuguese wines at reasonable prices and there is a joyful, friendly vibe from the hard-working, lovely and helpful...
