Although rather small, this is a very interesting museum and of course it is free to enter. Housed in an historic building with a wonderful painted ceiling on the upper floor, we were greeted at the door by a charming lady who showered us with leaflets in English which explained the artefacts, although most had a description in both Portuguese and English anyway.
About an hour was enough time to view everything including the temporary exhibition celebrating the return to democracy in 1974....
