Temple Póvoa — Restaurant in Póvoa de Varzim

The restaurant features an exquisitely beautiful interior, with many different seperating walls between the rooms, flowery themed decor and a spacious table layout, meaning the customers can enjoy some privacy and quiet, although this can change when the restaurant reaches peak hour. The sushi is average, with very little to no decor when it comes to the plates and servings, and they are usually arranged in a messy way on the plate, leaving much to be desired here. The sushi pieces aren't garnished, consisting in mostly rice, and seem done very brutely (the rice grains were smushed and often the piece collapses). When asking for sashimi, the custumer must comfort with the idea that some slices are big, some are substancially smaller, and some even feature unwanted fish fat). The menu and table guards were somewhat sticky from the soy sauce, hinting that table cleaning is insufficient. The wait time is where it really suffers, as in almost 3 whole hours of rodizio, the food only came more than half an hour apart between requests, which can force customers to leave early and dissatisfied. Even after complaining about the long wait time, the staff did not seem that interested in making up for the inconvenience. The problem lies in it being a very big restaurant with insufficient staff (which has to be split with the very competitive takeaway). The staff itself did not seem overly friendly and seem to do certain actions without regard to presentation (stacking multiple plates to deliver to custumers which caused grease to get under plates and greasy smudges near the sushi). The place is beautifully decorated and that's why I choose it for my birthday dinner. But besides that it was rather disappointing. I am a sushi lover and this one is probably among the worse I ate so far, with a lot of rice and not that much creativity when it comes to the flavors. The service was also kind of weird, just one person taking the actual orders and the other ones only serving the tables. The waiters didn't look very happy to be there either. On the other hand, the noodles and gyozas where good, probably we should stick to that if we ever visit the place again.

UPDATE: the way they take orders is way better now as you order directly on the tablet which is attached to every table. Like this is less chaotic than the first time I've visited, everything comes pretty fast at the table and almost all at the same time, which is great. Jantei neste restaurante com o meu namorado no passado sábado dia 15/02. Ligámos para o restaurante logo pela manhã e foi-nos informado que não faziam reservas de mesas para dois, coisa frequente neste tipo de estabelecimento, logo chegámos e aguardámos em pela nossa vez. Sentámos por volta das 21h30. As entradas não demoraram a chegar bem como o desapontamento. Camarões salteados super duros e secos, bem como os camarões presentes no noodles. Muito difícil de mastigar, dando a sensação que já estariam grelhados há muito tempo e que foram aquecidos (ou então que estariam congelados). Noodles também muito secos. Camarões panados estavam crocantes mas denunciavam um óleo que já precisava ser mudado. Camarões com bacon cheio de resíduos escuros e o bacon completamente torrado, mais uma vez, demostrando um óleo que já tinha frito mais peças que aquelas que deveria. Os temakis estavam muito bons, salvando assim as nossas entradas. Pedimos sangria que veio super quente, sem qualquer pedra de gelo e com um sabor excessivo a álcool ( parecia que estava a beber caipirinha de tanto que me sabia a cachaça). Sem o sabor doce característico de uma bebida frutada. Veio então as peças de sushi, estavam boas apesar da quantidade excessiva de arroz, tornando as peças muito massudas. Deixar também a ressalva que nem todas as peças pedidas vieram para a mesa, no entanto isto é também uma jogada caraterísta destes estabelecimentos de rodizio, no entanto neste torna-se muito fácil de observar porque os pedidos são feito através de um tablet, sendo de fácil acesso a lista dos nossos pedidos. Visto não fazerem marcações, o meu conselho seria, se não suportam receber mais clientes, têm que os mandar embora. O serviço foi muito fraco já pra não falar que a cozinha fechou cerca de 1h depois de eu me sentar na mesa, o que faz com que os 55€ pagos pelos dois não tenham sido bem aproveitados. Somos amantes de sushi, já frequentámos vários rodízios deste género, inclusive outros restaurantes da mesma franquia e nunca tínhamos saído tão desgostosos de um.
