A Ribeira Alvor — Restaurant in Portimão

What a joke of a restaurant. Booked this restaurant to enjoy a beautiful day in the sun. What a terrible mistake by me. Let me walk you through it so you don’t have to experience it yourselves. We ordered a bottle of wine. It took 15 min to receive. For starters we wanted four soups, after some waiting they arrived cold. The waiters changed it after some complaints by them that this is normal i.e the soup should be cold? After 30 min we politely asked where the is our main dish? The response was some sighing more complaints. The fish arrived, missing French fries and rice that we ordered. The waiter, which is the daughter of the owner, offered us a free bottle of wine as compensation. As normal you might want some coffee or dessert after, no one came to our table to ask so I had to walk to the bar to order four coffees. After 10 min I once again had to walk in to ask when it will arrive. One of the waiters then laughed and looked at me in front of other guest and pointing fingers. After another 10 min without coffee we didn’t care about the coffee anymore we wanted the bill. The coffee arrived, all wrong of course I mean at this point we wouldn’t expect anything less.

When the bill arrived. We were charged for the wine that was offered for free. We were also yelled at a because we obviously were bad guests. Like we should be blessed to eat at this terrible place. We were also told that this is not McDonald’s as this is a restaurant. We’ll miss, let me tell you McDonald’s have better service and friendlier staff than you or your staff can even get close to.

I love restaurants and eat out a lot. I can also understand if there is a busy day, understaffed or what ever the reason may be. Communication is key. Not once any of the staff approached us with an apology or an explanation. Was any discount offered; of course not. Ps the bill was...

I recently dined at A Ribeira Alvor with a party of 12, and unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. We had a reservation for 9 PM and arrived on time, but were told we would need to wait 30 minutes as the restaurant was busy. This wait extended to almost 50 minutes, and we were not notified of any delays beforehand, leaving us to wait outside the restaurant.

The service was disappointing from the start. The waitress was rude and did not apologize once for the delay. When we finally got seated, the problems continued. Our octopus salad, ordered with the other starters, was forgotten. We also had to remind the staff three times to bring our water. Additionally, my main dish arrived 20 minutes later than everyone else’s, and the shrimp was mushy and overly salty.

When we tried to address these issues with the waitress, she was dismissive and refused to talk to us, blaming the problems on normal restaurant issues and implying that we too cannot do our jobs 100% correctly. This lack of accountability and poor customer service ruined what should have been an enjoyable evening.

If A Ribeira Alvor cannot handle large groups, they should not accept such reservations. Our experience was marred by delays, poor service, and subpar food quality. I cannot recommend this restaurant based on...

This place is a great restaurant to go to if you want to leave unstatisfied.

We reserved at 16.00 for 21.00. We arrived at 20.55 and were told to wait. Around 21.45 we were finally seated.

We ordered starters and main meals in one go. We told them to bring everything at once. After receiving 3/4 starters, which were mid for what they charged for it. They came with the fourth after asking for it. It was a smaller version of the dish since they apparently had ran out of squid.

We ordered water around 22.00. We ended up getting it after an hour and asking 3 times.

One of the maindishes was completely forgotten. 20 minutes later and having to ask for it. We were told 5 minutes which ended up being 10.

The octopus a ribeira was just a tomato soup with 5 slices of octopus with some old bread. The fries were good. The tuna steak was cold.

After bringing these problems to discussion, the waiter was being waved off by the manager that he had to fix it. She didnt even dare to come up to us.

We eventually confronted her and she started saying: "I dont know how much you make, I hope you have a really comfortable workspace where everything is perfect. " Basically not taking any responsibility and not willing to come with a solution.
