Sereia came highly recommended by multiple Chicken Piri Piri evangelists (including my wife, whose advice I pay close attention to), so the stakes were high. Making my way down the windy streets to the restaurant the distinctive aroma of grilled fish and chicken caught the sea breeze and would lead a blind man to the front door. Not needing to see a menu, I ordered the Chicken Piri Piri. The waiter calmly explained it would be a thirty minute wait (another good sign….no dried out chicken lurking on the rack from an hour ago). The chicken itself is moist and full of flavour, but personally I like more of a charred edge to the skin, and when I come again I will ask for it to be cooked that way. Salad and chips both crispy fresh. One other small problem was that there wasn’t quite enough chicken! Blueberry cheesecake rounded off proceedings, with an espresso where unfortunately the beans had been roasted to within an inch of incineration, killing all freshness. Service was excellent as was the vibe in late May. Muito obrigado.

This place has had a recent facelift, with fish in display cabinet and living fresh lobster, crab, sea bream etc. Let me start by saying the staff are very friendly and courteous... Prices are fair and some seafood are priced by the kilo and is accompanied by potatoes or frites, alongside many other dishes from meats to fishes. I ordered the King Prawn at 75 euros per kg, to be grilled and served with round sliced fried potatoes (which came caramelised)... The day after I experienced seafood poisoning that lasted 32 hrs so far. I want to say that the King Prawn tasted delicious, and what seemed to be cooked to perfection. Sea bass was really tasty and nicely grilled, served and de-boned at the table. Scallops was too salty, champagne sauce over powering and texture of scallops could have been a little bit more tighter.

We came here for an afternoon trip from Portimao and we opt to go here for lunch. We saw fresh calamari and fish from that day with vegetables for 10euros and we were absolutely satisfied. Service was between top 3 restaurants in whole Portugal and we traveled from Porto all the way to Lisbon. Food and vibe of the restaurant was just great. We are Croatians so we know how these dishes should taste like and we were absolutely stunned by preparation and everything. Definitely don't miss this place. Was definitely one of the biggest surprise on our trip as we didn't expect this level of professionalism in such a small place. Well done!

We are here on our last night in Alvor. Since we didn’t make a reservation we had to settle for outdoor seating. We ordered some bread and oysters for starters and my kids had the lasagne and chicken nuggets. My husband had the fillet steak and we ordered a paella to share. The food was wonderful. The oysters were deliciously fresh and the paella was delicious and a really generous portion. My husband’s steak was a little on the under side as he ordered it as a medium to well but the waitress was more than happy to sear it for a little longer. The kids meals were good too. Since we were seated outside it was a little windy and chilly in the evening, the waitress kindly offered a blanket to my 4 year old daughter. Overall, we had a great meal and the service and facilities were very good. The only thing I would probably improve on is the outdoor seating in the evenings as the lights and food can attract a few flies in the area so perhaps put some citronella candles on the tables, but other than that no complaints! Thank you...

We can’t say enough good things about Sereia! Incredible restaurant, amazing food, service was the best we’ve encountered! We stumbled on Sereia while walking around beautiful Alvor and it was absolutely perfect! The food is amazing, so much so that we came back twice. The seafood was so fresh, so carefully prepared and you could tell a lot of heart went into their dishes. The wine list was fantastic, with some really great selections for any budget. The food was some of the best we’ve had in all of Portugal. This was more than just dinner. Ines, who owns the restaurant with her family, makes you a part of the family! She is an absolute gem of a person and we feel so lucky to have met her. We made a point of coming back because the evening was so amazing the first time. Our 4 year old son was mesmerized by her charm and care. You can tell her heart is in this place and it shows from the second she greets you at the door. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anyone, you will not be...
