Sports Cafe Alvor — Restaurant in Portimão

This place advertised showing a game. Tranmere Vs Newcastle. We checked to ensure they would be showing it and this was confirmed. Purchased beers. Waited patiently for the screen they said would be used to be turned over to the game. Instead despite 4 of us wanting the Tranmere Vs Newcastle game they played the Rangers game with only 2 people watching.

Asked again before ordering food and more drinks. All we got was nonsense about not being able to use the system.

For a sports bar it was useless. No consideration for what a sports fan needs or wants when they have a game they really want to watch. Awful service and no consideration for customers.

Last year I waited over an hour for a pizza. So basically nothing changes and this place is really poor.

Spent hundreds over the last few days on drinks and food at this bar. Asked to reserve a table for boxing which they promised us. Got there on time, boxing was wasn’t on and refused to change it. Staff were very rude and aggressive to say they promised us it was on earlier in the day which is the only reason why we turned up. We ended up having to leave because they couldn’t get it on which is disappointing to say we spent so much there and most of the people inside were people we recommended this too. We have a villa here and are regulars at this resort but won’t be going again after that experience. Ok, again an explainer (my sole follower understands my pedantry in this regard), the ratings are not in comparison to other restaurants/bars but are based on what my (low) expectations of a sports bar are. I didn’t have any food (with so many good restaurants within walking distance why would you). The service was ok, I’m not the target market, and that’s fine with me. However, the cocktails were poor and lacking alcohol which in a place like this is a cardinal sin. I don’t expect smooth top notch tequila in a sports bar margarita but I do expect there to be a level of raw tequila that at least smacks you in the mouth with each sip to remind you that you’re not in Kansas now and the tequila is made using a sock...
