A Cozinha da Maria Eugénia — Restaurant in Porto

Immediately after we arrived they brought some small food on a table (olives, bread, cheese and something fishy). We are used to this as in many countries abroad it is like this, they give you something small to eat while you wait for food. To our big surprise they put it on our bill.. so.. we were kind of forced to pay for something what we normally wouldn’t order. Maybe they do this only to tourists? No idea..but we didn’t experience this anywhere until this place. That’s one thing. Second thing is that they don’t have menu in english, so we asked waiter for help. He translated it to us, but we ended up with different thing as we thought :D it was no problem as we can eat anything if it is good. But this one was not very tasty. Desserts are great, but for main dish..sorry, but no. We tried many restaurants in Porto, but only this one we left...

“When in Porto, eat as the Portuguese do”. The restaurant is close to my airbnb and I had a great dinner. The place is small so you need reservations at peak hours (lunch, weekends). Their menu is in Portuguese but you can easily use Google Translate to read. I chose the white cabbage soup & Codfish Braga style (Bacalhau à Braga). Começo por dizer que os comentários valem o que valem, e por isso, este refere-se à minha experiência e da minha família. Confesso que esperei um tempo para não reagir a quente e até ponderei nada escrever. Começando pelo mais importante é que o menu é vasto e faz jus à comida tradicional portuguesa, no que refere aos filetes de polvo, com arroz do mesmo. Quanto ao Naco na pedra, também, estava bom. São dois dos pratos mais avultados do menu. Comemos entradas e até repetindo uns ovos com atum, simplesmente deliciosos. As sobremesas também são boas. Por fim, queria alertar para o facto de nos sentirmos incomodados com a forma como fomos atendidos por um dos funcionários. Falava connosco tanto de forma agradável como de forma a rondar o mal educado. Eu paguei e bem (já agora, em numerário) a refeição, cerca de 120€ para 4 pessoas. Compreendo que sendo uma casa com clientes de longa data possam não ter necessidade da nossa presença, mas essa é uma péssima forma de o demonstrar. Se gostou deste comentário, por favor, faça like.
