Definitely one of my favorite pastry shops in Porto. They have a vast selection of sweets (desserts, cakes, chocolates, pastries, etc.) and savory options as well (bread, snacks, and even main courses—since it’s also a restaurant).
I’ve been there many times and tried a lot of different things. Everything always tastes fresh and delicious. I love the fact that they also have a small version of each pastry (“miniatura”), so you can try more things at the same time.
My main highlights are the Glória (puff pastry donut filled with egg custard and topped with caramelized sugar), the chocolate croissant, and the torrada (thick slices of toasted bread served with butter).
Service is quick, attentive, and kind, and prices are fair. I totally recommend Nova Real and look forward to visiting...

Even though it was was pre ordered we had to wait almost one hour in line to get our order (this was around lunch time on the 24th).
The “bolo Rei” was perfect 😍 the more days it passed the better it was 🥰 loved it! The “pão de ló de ovar” was very tasty, but completely dry 😓
We also bought two codfish pastries and they were very nice ☺️
I will try other stuff from here, the rating is low because of amount of time we had to wait and because of the “pão de ló” that is supposed to be...
Read moreAmazing food, but table service is horrible. Waitresses have no manners and are xenophobic, especially to non-Portuguese Portuguese speakers (Brazilians, Africans, Goans). No point in making great food and treating patrons like garbage. Wouldn't eat there again even if I got paid to do it. Businesses have to remember that every person in the door equals food on the table of everyone working there - plus business success and survival.
