Fresh Fantastic Fish!!! I originally visited this place months ago but just drove down to visit again. The food is so good that we are willing to drive an hour to get there for dinner. It's not fancy at all, no bells no whistles. Just fresh fish prepared simply with potatoes and salad. I believe now that the absolute beauty of the experience is due to the fish that is caught in this area. One of the family members who own this multi- generation restaurant told us the fish is just different in this area. I am now inclined to believe him. The "meat" of the sea bass here is distinct from any of the others I have tried in other areas. So, to start your experience, You select your fish (or fishes) from the cooler. They were bringing more in as we stood there. Can't get more fresh than that. They grill over a huge charcoal grill and you can watch through the glass if you want to. The service was good...businesslike and efficient. They were knowledgeable and helpful in their recommendations-- they've been doing this for 3 generations. We love this place and highly...

That's not all, when at the end of the night the bill came, we noticed that they charged us for: the bread, olives and cheese that the waiter brought to our table when we first took a sit, and besides that, we were told that the fish comes with side dishes (they were also charged and after asking for it, they removed these items). When you have a dinner for two (simple one) and you pay €70, the minimum you are expecting is that the bread and welcoming items are included (€11 paid for them), otherwise, they should tell you about it and then you are free to decide what do you want as a starter (keep in consideration that menus are a rare and exotic thing in the restaurant, so you really don't know the full story). The fish was tasty and well done, the happy experience of it got distroyed with the events...
Read moreLocated near the fishing harbor in Sesimbra, a few meters away from the sea, Lobo do Mar is one of those unpretentious places that gives exactly what any seaside restaurant should: fresh fish, simple yet tasty sides and good wine (there's a generous list with some of Portugal's best known Wines, and options for all purses). As you enter the restaurant you are treated to a well stocked display stand filled with fish brought directly from the nearby harbor. You can find pretty much all of the local species such as Bass, Bream, Grouper, Swordfish, Tuna, Squids (you can also get these as an entrée). The Staff is friendly and the ambient is casual, with a very heterogeneous patronage. The parking is a bit of an hassle, but the overall experience is well worth your visit - it's very probably one of the best places in Sesimbra and the prices are very affordable...
