SóSal Beach Bar — Restaurant in Sesimbra

It should probably tell you everything you need to know when you come to a seaside beach bar and everyone is eating burgers (which actually looked good). It’s not often I take to Google to leave bad reviews for service (the last time was 2 years ago)but I decided to today. We ordered garlic prawns, octopus salad and fresh turbot to be grilled. Garlic prawns were brought out with shrimp tempura which we didn’t order. The garlic prawns were delicious. They then went back into the kitchen to get us the thing we actually ordered (the octopus salad) which despite its simplicity didn’t arrive for another 20 mins. After we finished the salad, we had been there for 1 hour 15 mins when they informed us the turbot “smelled bad”. Really? It took you that long to say anything about that? They asked us if we wanted anything else - well, no after an hour 15 mins of sitting there. No apology of any kind was made by the owner, manager or anyone at all. The staff were shockingly trained - empty glasses just left on our table, and I had to ask for them to be taken away even though they were clearly there as they were putting down our plates of food. This is no way to run...

My wife and I spent three days in Sesimbra, and after discovering SoSal Beach Bar on our first day, we returned every day after. On that first visit, we were served by Ruben, whose warmth and exceptional service made us feel like we were dining with close friends and family. He not only introduced us to new dishes but also welcomed us into his world, introducing us to his wonderful family and the owner, who greeted us with the same kindness and hospitality.

The food was equally impressive. We sampled many items from the menu, and every dish exceeded our expectations. We were genuinely disappointed to leave and wished we could have stayed longer. We wholeheartedly recommend SoSal Beach Bar, and we’ll be sure to return during our annual visits to Portugal. If you get a chance to visit ask for Ruben and don’t forget to...

Difícil explicar... faz muito tempo que não via um serviço tão mau, desorganizado e sem interesse pelo cliente. Se alguém se gosta de sentir um fantasma aqui é o melhor local... foi mesmo quase preciso implorar para consumir. Depois de um dia de praia decidi ir tomar "um" copo a este estabelecimento que parecia ter bom ar e música ao vivo. Quando chegamos apareceu alguém que realmente pareceu se interessar e até nos levou a uma mesa. Tudo parecia certo até que a banda que estava a tocar tocou 3 musicas e ainda voltou para mais uma e o nosso pedido nada... não era um pedido complicado... para começar eram só duas cervejas... mas o staff nada... tentei procurar e simplesmente estavam completamente alheios ao que se passava. Levantei-me e fui ao balcão fazer o pedido por mim mesmo, já que não lhes apetecia trabalhar. Após um primeiro copo "roto" pedi mais uma cerveja a um colaborador que apressamente passava por nós para poder aproveitar um final de tarde que cheirava a verão. E assim foi que novamente me tornei um fantasma, dando tempo para a pessoa que estava comigo ir e voltar do WC e continuar à espera mais uns largos minutos. Quando novamente decidi ir ao balcão "implorar" para consumir disseram, com todo um tom de arrogância, para esperar que estavam muito atarefados. Enquanto isto estavam todos em completa animação entre eles. Claramente cancelei o meu último pedido e fui embora com um sentimento de desilusão incrível por este espaço com ótimo ar e ambiente ( só por isso dou duas estrelas) e que ficou longe da expetativa.
