I’m going to comment as a Portuguese from Algarve who has been eating in Santa Luzia since I’m a little boy. I’ve eaten in this restaurant many times it the past and it was pretty decent and with good value for money food offer, owned by Portuguese. The restaurant was “bought” by Nepalese people and has lost its authenticity. I have nothing against people from Nepal. They are very honorable, hard-working people who came to the Algarve to work in the berry picking-business but I don’t think it works to acquire a typical Portuguese restaurant and try to reproduce their food with a Nepalese cook. We had “arroz de tamboril” and “arroz de marisco” and although it wasn’t too bad, I could tell as a Portuguese that it was not authentic. Besides, not a single clam inside the rice opened which is often a sign that they were probably did and not fresh. The waiter was kind but not only doesn’t speak Portuguese (which is understandable) but barely speaks any English or any other language. Again, I don’t my comment to be taken as racist in any way. I would say exactly the same if a Portuguese emigrant in Nepal would buy a Nepalese restaurant. I just don’t think that in the context of Santa Luzia’s offer, this concept doesn’t work, unless it’s converted into a Nepalese restaurant with authentic Nepalese food. Hope my comment is useful to...
Read moreThe restaurant was bought by some Nepal people around a year ago so the reviews before that are reviews of a different restaurant almost. It was late at night and we didn't really have any other place to go so we went to this restaurant. We saw that it was completely empty which was a bit of a red flag but we still went in and tried it since the ratings weren't too bad. we first got there and we saw no one. We then said hello and finally a lady came out, she was honestly very kind but she didn't really speak Portuguese. I spoke English with her because she spoke that better than Portuguese but her English still wasn't that good. We ordered 1 serving of octopus rice and one serving of seafood rice. It took quite a bit because it was only that same lady cooking but it was fine. the octopus rice was absolutely delicious, it was very very good but the seafood rice was just good. We were finishing off when her husband (I assume) came in and sat two tables away from us and started watching YouTube or tik tok really loudly. that kind of ruined our dinner a bit and we went home in a few minutes because we could not be there, it was very annoying. I am not going back there and I would not go there in the first place...

You are served and waited by the most pleasant young lady who is so friendly and helpful. We will certainly go again. Give it a try you will not be...
