We came here after reading the glowing reviews—and we weren’t disappointed! I had been craving fried calamari, and Zurrata’s take was a pleasant surprise. Instead of the usual frozen ringlets, they served fresh, lightly battered pieces of squid—crispy, not chewy, and perfectly seasoned. Absolute perfection.

My husband and I shared a liter of sangria, which was also fantastic. I expected a simple mix of red wine and something like Fanta, but this was a much more complex (and potent!) blend of red wine, vodka, rum, cinnamon, and a whole list of other ingredients—our waiter happily rattled them off when we asked.

For our mains, we had the grilled octopus with potatoes and the pork cheeks with fries. Both dishes were tender, flavorful, and well-prepared. In the U.S., I’d never had octopus that wasn’t rubbery, but the octopus here—and especially at Zurrata—had a beautiful grilled flavor and perfect texture.

Our waiter was excellent: friendly, attentive, and checked on us often (always kind and professional). We visited at lunchtime, so it was a bit warm, but there was no wait at all.

Highly...

A Hidden Gem with Outstanding Food and Service

During our recent trip to Portugal, we stumbled upon Zurrata and it turned out to be an absolute highlight of our journey. This charming restaurant offers not only a warm and inviting atmosphere but also a culinary experience that exceeded all our expectations.

The food at Zurrata is simply outstanding. Every dish was crafted with care, bursting with authentic flavors that beautifully showcased the local cuisine. From the appetizers to the desserts, each plate was a delightful surprise. The freshness of the ingredients and the skillful presentation made every bite a joy.

Equally impressive was the service. The staff at Zurrata were incredibly attentive and friendly, making us feel truly welcome from the moment we walked in. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations that made our dining experience even more memorable.

If you’re in Portugal and looking for a place that offers excellent food and top-notch service, Zurrata is a must-visit. This restaurant is truly a hidden gem and we are so glad we found it. Highly...

First of all: The Food was delicious! I recommend coming here to have a tasty experience. The Ambiente is also very nice. The service is the only thing to criticise. I really hope that they are still learning. The wine glas of my girlfriend was dirty , like you could see that they were not cleaned properly (lip senses). We had the red house wine which was good and not too strong for us. We (couple) ordered all starters except the beef Tongue Taco and shared them. Everything was very good, only the Cod Face Taco was not our thing but still okay.

Tuna Pica Pau and the Zurrate Couvert were our favourite! Do yourself a favour and try them! We asked for dessert ( not on the menu). They have two: egg cake and mousse au chocolate. We took both and both were delicious, but the mousse au chocolate was our favourite! Dessert price was 4€ per dish.

I hope the service will get better by next time but if we come back in future, we will...

What a lovely attentive restaurant, staff were welcoming often when eating alone you get stuck next to the speaker etc not in this location. Both serving staff were knowledgeable and happy to help with any questions. It's located in the town near the church not on the main drag so it great to watch the world and locals go by!! The wine was a good quality as I has a glass, would loved to have tried the sangria but the jug was a challenge. Simple paired down menu with a strong focus on flavour and not over complicating things.
