Despite some of the negative reviews we tried this Indian restaurant. The staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Let me caveat this review by saying that while we enjoy Indian very much food, we are not used to hot spicy food, and we prefer mild instead of hot for a spice level. The staff spoke English and asked us how we'd like our dishes, which level of spice, and they did not disappoint. The food was not too spicy, but was perfect for our taste, exactly as we requested. We tried 5 dishes in total, two starters, naan and rice, all were very good and delicious. We asked if the dishes also include rice, but they do not come with any rice, you have to order it as a side if that's how you enjoy your Indian food. We normally place rice down, then the entree on top of the rice to soak up the sauce. For 5 people, we ordered two rice side dishes to share. The rice was very well seasoned and tasted super delicious. Upon service, the first impression was that the serving size is small for the entree and expense, as it arrives in a small bowl with a candle underneath to keep it warm. It was however more than enough food for dinner. It left all of us very satisfied and full. It was the right portion size to not over eat, but also not to leave still hungry or leave food behind or have to take it with. We ordered three naan to be split for 5 people, and we struggled to finish all the food without over eating, or leaving food behind. The restaurant was very clean, including the bathroom. The service and food arrived quickly and hot. They have a take-away menu as well, and when we arrived, someone was ordering for take-away. They don't take credit cards, so make sure...
Read moreI woke up at 10pm having missed the entire evening and realising the only place still serving was here. After seeing Tandoori Chicken as a main course on the menu I asked if it was possible to have it as a starter? Obviously not as a very large main arrived possibly due to a lack of communication and I hadn't understood what he had told me. It was quite elaborate if a touch overcooked. It very near filled me up. Second main course was a (Korai, Karahi) Chicken was disappointing and not how I expected. Later research informed me that it is quite possible that every restaurant has its own version of this dish. In my haste to get there before closing I forgot to slip my wallet in my pocket. As I was staying only 50ft away I offered to pop out and get it. Now bear in mind I walk with a stick due to a twice broken hip and severe arthritis and could easily be overtaken by an ant, I was surprised the boss asked 2 of his waiters/kitchen staff to accompany me and collect my payment. It felt a little bit like they suspected me of doing a runner which might have been funny if it wasn't so ridiculously absurd. I have eaten in thousands of Indian/ Pakistani/ Bangladeshi restaurants in my time so feel my opinion, although based on my individual taste,...
Read moreWe had a mostly positive experience. The food was nice and authentic – the dal, in particular, was excellent. Service was fast and friendly, and the location is great.
The only real downside was the cash-only policy. There was a small sign at the entrance, but we didn’t notice it upon entry, and unfortunately, no one mentioned it when we were seated. The disappointment came when it was time to pay – the waiter pointed us outside to show us the sign instead of simply informing us at the start. We then had to find an ATM, which added an extra €5 fee on top of the bill for cash withdrawal+time.
Overall, delicious food and nice service, but a more proactive heads-up about the payment policy would have made the experience smoother. Be sure...
