Don’t be fooled by the reviews on here, there is very much a hostile undercurrent at this restaurant. The service is appalling, waited 15 minutes before someone delivered water but no glasses waited 15 minutes to catch a waiters attention to get glasses, waited another 20 minutes to catch a different waiter to order wine, drink and food and you would think we had asked him to donate a kidney. Finally when the food arrived it was bland and sparse my daughters was inedible, most was left. I understand that they were busy but that’s life at peak times in a small place. The cost of the food in this place is ridiculous compared to its competitors who serve far better food. Cost is not the primary focus, it’s more about feeling valued as a customer and paying for quality food. To add insult to injury when we had paid the bill which was over €150 for mediocre food we noticed they we were overcharged we spoke to the waiter who despite serving us was adamant it was correct he finally agreed that we hadn’t had 3 of the same dish, he told us he would recharge us the correct amount and would refund the larger amount immediately and it would be in our account within 30 minutes, 4 days later it is still not there and despite several phone calls we are now having to raise a dispute resolution with our bank. When he was taking the second amount he tried to add 10% in as a tip. In summary, appalling service, overpriced bland mediocre food,...

Update April: I brought my family and ordered a whole black grouper to share. It was delightful. One of the best fish I ever had with only salt and pepper. We loved the "family style" presentation of a giant fish on the table with the sides all around.

Update November: still open and still great! I asked and they say they close for winter break in early december and reopen January. We sat outside today and it was lovely.

August- September 2021: we ate here twice last week and loved it. I really suggest reserving a table to avoid waiting for lunch. We ate the shrimp piri piri, the hot bread and oregano, olive oil, and garlic, and the pork and clams cataplana. Their version of this is awesome. I can also recommend the cheesecake. A good wine list but also cold drinks. The service is awesome

Review June 2021: We ate lunch here. The fish was outstanding. The seafood rice was very fresh and delicious. The custard tart was very good also. They have the most wonderful covered terrace with mist for hot days. They have plenty of shaded outdoor table space for fine dining during covid 19, but if you're a group of 4+ or making a special trip I suggest you...

I want to give this 5/5 as everything we selected, ate and drank was 5/5. We intentionally didn’t eat all of our entrees as we wanted to take some home for the next day’s lunch. However, when we paid the bill and asked for our leftovers, they couldn’t find them, apologized and said they must have been given to someone else. I explained that we had paid for that food and they simply said there was nothing they could do. As a gesture, they gave us a couple glasses of port. Nice gesture but, my money is not theirs to give away. I agreed to pay for dinner and I should get my whole dinner. I did not plan to shop for extra food today for lunch but now I must as last night’s port is not going to sustain my nutritional...

I came back for the squid lourenço. I could look past the service and the lack of complaints during high season. For context, service the day before during lunch was sub par. I went again at 6pm earlier today and service as much better. I’m assuming it’s because they’re not inundated with families. I ordered the squid lourenço and tomato salad, two glasses of vinho verde and the passion fruit cheesecake. I love this place. It’s delicious, it’s simple. I cannot stop dreaming about the squid. Go, live your best life and enjoy fresh seafood- no frills. I love when the waiter/ waitress brings out the 100lb tray of fresh seafood. If they sold t-shirts, I would buy them.

This restaurant is undoubtedly one of the best in Salema, offering a slightly upscale dining experience with prices that reflect the quality but remain reasonable. It mainly serves fresh fish and seafood. I enjoyed a generous portion of sardines, which included 7 pieces and came with a salad, all priced at around €11 - well worth it. The smoothie menu scored extra points -perfect for cooling down on a hot summer day. Service was prompt and courteous. The majority of the seating is on a covered outdoor terrace, which was very pleasant and breezy. Given its popularity, I highly recommend booking in advance to secure a spot and requesting a table outside.
