O Jaime - Jardim do Roberto — Restaurant in Vila Franca do Campo

Party of 6, looking for drinks and appetizers after snorkeling. Sat in outdoor area, but “not where the tablecloths were” because they had reservations coming. Waited about 30 minutes before asking if they would be taking orders and another 20 minutes waiting for drinks. It was clear that they were short staffed (and still anxiously awaiting the reservation people). We had money to spend on alcohol and food but felt this was not a place who wanted our business. One gentleman working was tidying up place settings and sweeping and one waitress spent her time avoiding us. Not sure how they stay...

mediocre. You get bread and some cheese that you have to pay for as a starter (2,50€). The grilled fish plate was ok but not the best (some kind of Muraenidae from Madeira was among the fish of the day).'Salad' as side dish should not have been mentioned by the waiter as it consisted of a few leaves and tomatoes. The steak on top of a slice of pineapple was rather disappointing and the french fries looked old. The waiter forgot 10€ when he returned the change.

The restaurant should improve the service, get rid of the mandatory starters for 2,50 and improve the quality...

Tuesday night. Dinner 1900hrs. Reasonable price, parking close by - near the college - good service (we were the only patrons at that time) A few things not available from the menu. Water delivered to us in a plastic bottle was not sealed. This was a concern but it might have been opened by the waiter on the way to the table. We suffered no ill effects. Food was basic but good value. Decor is a little dated. Bottom line. If you want good value, not too fancy, open all hours with parking, then this is a reasonable...
