Queijadas do Morgado — Restaurant in Vila Franca do Campo

This is a wonderful seaside cafe serving delicious queijadas out of a kitchen that has been around since the 1960s. The decor is clean and modern, the staff was straightforward and efficient, and the queijadas were delicious.

The cafe has a front facing covered terrace, an interior sitting area, and a serving counter. They sell queijadas in 12 (11 euros)or 6 (5.50 euros) portion boxes or per unit for 1.20 euro as well as a full menu of beverages namely fresh made coffee and bottled fruit juices.

But one or two per person as the pastries are dense and rich (eggs, enriched flour, milk, sugar). The 6/12 packs come in pretty gift boxes for taking home, ideal in our case as tourists to bring...

Make sure you visit this bakery and take a box of the traditional Queijadas away with you! But whilst you are there buying way too many boxes of these amazing traditional pastries which have been made in this town for decades, stop and enjoy a coffee and cake with a view. Their terrace looks over the ocean and can be a little sun trap in the morning. Their coffee is great and their loaf cakes even better! The lime and pistachio was a real triumph, and don't miss out on the carrot cake either. Also, you can peek through the windows in the corridor and seeing the Queijadas being made by a group of women who, when we were there at least, looked to be having so much fun, dancing...

Queijadas do Morgado is an absolute must when visiting São Miguel. Period. These are hands-down the best queijadas I’ve ever had — so good, I had one every single day during my stay in Vila Franca!

The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. You can even watch the team at work, making the queijadas fresh on-site — it’s such a nice touch to see the love and care in the process.
