Initially. we unfortunately “discovered” that Basta Simple Brunch had no allowances for our Dog we went on a walk with a very tiny 3.85 Kg.Morkie & we left. But, the very accommodating Hostess/Server/Co-Owner/Mom of 5 kids called us back, & graciously offered a table (in the back) where “Cumin” chilled-out under our table.
We had a nice brunch. Amazing what this Husband & wife team accomplish in such a small kitchen & compact Cafe. And-they appear to “Like” what they do as well.
My only negative has to do with air-circulation (or more specifically the lack there-of!) Either get a proper kitchen exhaust hood for the flat-top-grill that you don’t have, or? Invest in 3x bigger ceiling fan than the doll-house-size version you currently have installed. The room was about 10°-15° degrees warmer inside, than outside on a perfect June day.
Otherwise a stellar job- by BOTH the “front-of-house” staff and her calm/multi-tasking- Non-English-Speaking ChefBaker/and...
Read moreI needed a place to eat in a Sunday noon, so I decided to give this great place a try. The location itself was very colorful and very lovely decorated. One can see over the counter how the food is prepared. Although I was the only customer I was treated very well by the 2 owners. I had the guacamole for starter, the Burger with mushrooms and truffle mayonnaise for main course and the chocolate tarte for desert. I have to say, that every dish was extremely delicious. Especially the Burger and the chocolate tarte were to die for. The Burger had a green bun which was very fluffy. The truffles mayonnaise blended in perfectly with the meat and the mushrooms. It was a perfect burger. And then came the chocolate tarte. It was such an awesome flavor which I never tasted before. The inner core of the cake was still almost fluid which gave this desert its awesomeness. Thanks very much for the great service. I will definitely be back on my next...
Read moreThank you!! A much needed brunch place in Gaia, not far from El corte ingles . I for one am tired of crossing the bridge for brunch. I know there’s 7G but it’s always busy when you want to go, and get this ! Basta is open at 7:00 AM weekdays and 8:00 AM on weekends , Unheard of in Porto, right?! Everything else opens at 10:00 , that’s like mid day for me . Anyhow , the food was delicious , super fresh, and made with care. They have a wonderful brunch box for two which is not only visually appealing, but very appetizing. The hollandaise sauce was exceptional on our eggs Benedict and they were very generous with the amount which is greatly appreciated. Fresh squeezed lemon aid and juice’s all yummy . Not expensive and something for everyone on the menu. Very happy with this recent addition to our neighborhood. ...
