Restaurante Típico in Viseu, Portugal - A Gem for Authentic Local Cuisine
If you're looking for an incredible dining experience featuring delicious Portuguese cuisine in a charming historic setting, look no further than Restaurante Típico in Viseu. This gem is conveniently located right next to the Viseu Castle and Zoo, making it the perfect stop for lunch or dinner.
The food here is simply outstanding. The menu features a mouthwatering array of classic Portuguese dishes made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The bacalhau (salted cod) is cooked to perfection, and the cozido à portuguesa (boiled meat and vegetable stew) is deeply flavorful and hearty. However, the star of the show may be the simple but incredibly tasty roasted chicken - crispy skin with juicy, well-seasoned meat.
The salads are also not to be missed, with an excellent selection of fresh, crisp greens, veggies and house-made dressings. And be sure to save room for one of their decadent Portuguese desserts like the pastel de nata custard tarts or the luscious arroz doce (rice pudding).
What really makes Restaurante Típico shine though is the warm, attentive service and charming ambiance. The rustic stone interior and quaint touches of Portuguese decor provide a cozy, inviting backdrop for your meal. And the servers are incredibly friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and always there when you need them with a smile.
Whether you're a local or just visiting Viseu, Restaurante Típico is a can't-miss dining destination for an authentic taste of Portugal's culinary treasures served up with true hospitality. Just be sure to make a reservation as this popular spot...
Read moreWe had lunch on the terrace on a beautiful sunny day. We had the cheese and ham with homemade bread for appetizers. We then had the Arroz de carqueja (absolutely delicious), the Arroz de ervilha (beautiful delicate taste), the Bacalhau a Avozinha (with a creamy chickpea purée) and the risotto de cogumelos e gambas. Everything was well presented, hot and nicely seasoned. We have been recommended a white wine form the Dao region, that was a bit dry to my taste, but guess what? - we finished it too. It was actually a good pairing with our food. I ordered a Molotov that is not for the faint hearted so sweet it was, but homemade and very fresh. Service was extremely friendly and attentive. I highly recommend Porta Restaurante when you visit the lovely...
