Sushisamba at the Waldorf Astoria Lusail offers a dining experience that is nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by an amazing venue with decadent decor that perfectly captures the fusion of Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian influences. The atmosphere is vibrant yet elegant, setting the stage for an unforgettable meal.
The service is outstanding—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about the menu offerings, which enhances the overall experience. The staff's enthusiasm for the cuisine is infectious and adds a personal touch to the dining experience.
The food at Sushisamba truly is out of this world. The sushi is a standout, with options like the "Samba Roll," which combines fresh tuna, salmon, and white fish with a hint of spicy mayo, all tied together with a perfect rice texture that melts in your mouth. Another must-try is the "Wagyu Gyoza," featuring succulent wagyu beef encased in delicate dumpling wrappers, offering a burst of flavor with each bite.
The steak options are equally impressive. The "A5 Wagyu" is a culinary revelation, showcasing the rich marbling and tender texture that makes this beef so revered. Cooked to perfection, it practically dissolves on the palate, offering a superlative experience for steak lovers.
To complement the cuisine, the cocktails at Sushisamba are expertly crafted and diverse. One highlight is the "Tommy's Margarita," a refreshing yet potent blend that balances the perfect amount of sweet and sour, enhancing the dining experience without overpowering the flavors of the food.
With its exceptional service, remarkable decor, and a menu that excites and delights the palate, Sushisamba at the Waldorf Astoria Lusail is a must-visit destination in Doha for lovers of exciting and innovative cuisine. I hope this message finds you well. My family and I recently dined at your restaurant, and while parts of our experience were excellent, I wanted to share some feedback to help improve future visits.
First, I’d like to commend the European gentleman with glasses who greeted us upon arrival. His warm, joyful demeanor and attention to detail made our initial experience truly exceptional. He introduced us to the restaurant, suggested an off-menu drink for my husband, and set a wonderful tone for the evening. Similarly, the bartender who prepared the drink deserves special recognition for going above and beyond.
However, after the shift change, the level of service declined. The new server (an African lady with long braids) was unresponsive to some of our requests, often stating items were unavailable (e.g., chili flakes) despite the restaurant being relatively quiet. Orders were delayed, and at the end of the meal, she directly asked if we intended to tip. While tipping is common practice, we found this approach unprofessional and unnecessary, especially given the service lapses.
We’ve lived in the GCC for 17 years and are accustomed to excellent service, particularly in high-end establishments like yours. While we would have gladly tipped the first server and bartender who exceeded our expectations, this incident left us with mixed feelings.
We truly appreciate your restaurant’s ambiance and potential, and we hope this feedback helps maintain the high standards your establishment aims for.
Thank you for taking the time to consider...

When I arrived, I had to wait for the harassed looking hostess to seat me. In spite of booking a week in advance. Other patrons also experienced the same frustrating wait. The frazzled hostess seated me in a sad area at the entrance, directly beneath the speaker system. I asked for a different table. She claimed all the others were reserved. However there were many unoccupied tables available outside.
3 very sincere and friendly, but overworked waitresses had to wait on the entire restaurant. There seemed to be a few managerial staff; about 3, but they didn't assist the servers at all. Shout out to Joy for perseverance in the face of the chaos.
The menu for Sushi Sunday was extensive and all you can eat. However, only a few items were actually good. The majority was just ok.
The good stuff: Lobster Taquitos, Fish Tartar, the prawn tempura Handroll, the salmon nigiri and matcha sour dessert. The Fish Tartar and Dessert were outstanding highlights.
7 other plates were neither good nor bad; 5/10 type foods. The tuna nigiri was bad.
The wait for drinks is long, as is the wait between courses. And the wait for the bill; which was 25 minutes. By that stage I just wanted to leave for a nice coffee and dessert elsewhere. After 25 minutes the bill did arrive, but just for 2 drinks.
I do regret booking this as I didn't enjoy most of it,
Would NOT recommend.
Special thanks to the wonderful Benson of the Waldorf who directed me to the...
