Well, where do I start. Although this review is 1.5 weeks delayed, the tasty food still lingers 'fresh' on my mind. The word fresh quoted because it's going to be an important word in the rest of my review. We were a relatively large party of 8 looking for a late lunch. None of us had ever been here before but we wanted to try something close to the port so we picked this restaurant. This was our 2nd attempt trying to get a reservation here but you bet it was worth the wait. 50% of our party got here relatively early and we were served a variety bread basket that felt and tasted fresh from the oven. I especially loved the sunflower seed bread and the rye and it was accompanied with a 3-plate sauce of red salsa, green salsa and tahini. I did not care so much about the red salsa or the tahini but our party ordered multiple more of the green salsa, so good! There were baskets of raw veggies like lettuce, tomato, jalapenos, cabbage, and lemon and I honestly was at a loss with what to do with them. Maybe those should be eliminated to avoid wastage. The rest of our party arrived and we were escorted to the live station to pick our fish. Each of them looked delectable and our hostess was very forthcoming with suggestions and clarifications. We chose 2 sea bass, 2 Sultan Ibrahim fish, Jumbo Prawns, and Mussels. 2 in our party also ordered from the menu, Fish n Chips, Sayyadiah with baked Hummour. Here goes the review: Crab Croquettes - Very very crispy on the outside and moist and flavorful on the inside, the crab meat was so beautiful and fresh. Sayyadiah with hummour - IMHO, go for the fresh fish here. There is no need for these pretentious sides or to waste your hunger on any of these carbs. Sea bass - NOW THIS ALONE DESERVES A REVIEW...IT WAS SIMPLY OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Being from San Francisco, I thought I'd seen it all in terms of sea food. But this was just another level!!! The word 'fresh' must have been made by the person that tasted this fish! We had this with the lemon butter. Sultan Ibrahim - Again MIND-BLOWINGLY beautiful!! We had it deep-fried and you would think that it's ruining it but absolutely not. Crisp on the outside and beautiful melt-in-the-mouth flaky on the inside. I'd never heard of this fish before but I am so glad we tried it. Prawns - Jumbo they were and perfectly grilled! Mussels - We had them with a dunkin of cheese and they were also melt-in-the-mouth. I've always had an issue with mussels being too fishy but not these. This was scooping butter into your mouth. Beautiful! So, so, so FRESH! It didn't feel like we were eating seafood. Any person trying to become a seafoodie must start here. Although the other side of the restaurant is a market we did not smell anything. This restaurant is definitely going to be my top place to visit every single time I visit...
Read moreCHABRAT AL MINA at the Old Doha Port delivered an exceptional dining experience, earning its title as the Best Seafood Restaurant in Qatar, as granted by the FACT Dining Awards 2023. This accolade is well-deserved!
As first-time visitors to Doha, our dinner at CHABRAT AL MINA was spectacular from start to finish. The reception staff greeted us warmly amidst a busy atmosphere. Despite the crowd, the service was quick and efficient.
Our dining experience began at the stunning display counter, where we selected fresh fish and a succulent lobster. To complement these, we also ordered the Fisherman Soup, Lobster Thermidor with Saffron, and Grilled Hamour directly at our table. Shortly after being seated, we were delighted with large bowls of fresh vegetables and delectable dips to start our meal.
The food was simply outstanding. Each dish was flavorful, well-prepared, and served in generous portions. The Fisherman Soup was a warm, hearty start, full of rich aromas and tastes. The Lobster Thermidor with Saffron was a standout, with the delicate flavor of the saffron enhancing the fresh lobster beautifully. The Grilled Hamour was expertly done, flaky and moist with a perfect char.
Service throughout the meal was impeccable. A special recognition goes to Miss Sara at the front desk. She not only provided us with excellent service but went above and beyond our expectations. When our phones died, rendering us unable to call a ride back to our hotel, she promptly ordered an Uber for us, ensuring a smooth end to our delightful evening.
In summary, CHABRAT AL MINA offers an unparalleled seafood dining experience with their fantastic food, gracious service, and warm hospitality. It’s no wonder they’ve been recognized at the FACT Dining Awards. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for top-tier seafood in a welcoming...
Read moreFirst time in this restaurant and I’m disappointed a little bit , The staff in the reception are friendly and helpful but when we dine here today in this restaurant we expect a lot that it will be a tasty food , but sad to say it is not. And it is over price but the food is not delicious. We ate in another seafood restaurant a lot but it’s better than this and the price is little bit pricey but you will enjoy the food. But here it is already over price and you will enjoy all the food. Yes you will choose what do you like to eat in the fish area and cook as what you want. Thanks that we order only 3pcs crab cause the crab is not fresh at all it’s creamy inside means it’s old stock. The fisherman soup is over price and we didn’t eat any seafood on it only a lot of carrots and other veggies and they cut it in small pieses not same in other seafood restaurants you will eat the seafood it self on a big pieces. The squid we don’t like it how they grilled it is still raw inside and the marinated not good there is smell fishy. The shrimp we like it a lot cause this one is so fresh The king fish and the hamour is ok The mango and strawberry is fresh too. And also for the jumbo shrimp they charge us more than kilo even we order only half kilo. Our mistakes that we didn’t check the reciept before we go . I just check now when we are in the home and i’m shock that they charge us over we can’t go back cause we are already in the home. The charge for small juice and water is over price. So my rate is 6/10 If you are on the tight budget i can’t recommend this restaurant to you If you have budget then you can try and see it for yourself. But for me if we will return to this restaurant again i don’t think so cause our first experience did’t reach our...
