Hanul Domnesc — Restaurant in Târgu Jiu

Great place to eat in Targu Jiu, after a long walk. Big portions of food and delicious. Great drinks and ambience. The service was great and really pleasant but unfortunately we had a bad experience with the "papanasi" here. In our stay in Ranca, every single day we eat papanasi, so in this day when we visited Târgu Jiu and stopped eating at Hanul Domnesc of course we ordered papanasi. They were very nice on the outside but they were not cooked so we told the waitress about the problem. We understand that she has no fault for this, but she didn't know how to handle the situation. We didn't eat them when we saw them like that, but she still put them on the bill after the complain.

Horrible experience for foreigners! The staff doesn't speak English, and the menu in English is incorrectly written. We got served the wrong dishes, but even the ones we originally ordered ended up being appetizers instead of full courses as advertised on the menu (pictured is the supposed "pork meat, ham, and cheese" dish). The food itself was greasy and probably reheated, and we were charged for 12 pieces of bread, of which we ate none. Decent toilet and cozy garden were the only saving...

Great traditional food in a picturesque traditional atmosphere. There was an English menu and we were able to pick what we wanted, with help from the hostess. The food was delicious, very original and it comes in big portions. Prices are very normal. Along with every order comes a big basket of home made bread, very tasty, so watch out not to stuff yourselves before the food comes.
