1913 God — Restaurant in Адмиралтейский округ

We're family of three - 13 is our lucky number - so 1913 hotel was the first choice and it did not disappoint us. The location is fantastic - we visited the Winter Palace - it's so close. You're in the heart of the city - beautiful buildings and monuments and architecture!!! It felt magical in February when snow was falling down and illumination is all night - it's very special! Second, it's a hotel, bit it is not. It has a main entrance and the reception, and a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig staircase made of concrete steps, and high ceiling. Obviously, the red carpet - you feel as a lord and a lady. Don't worry the suitcases are taken upstairs by a strong doorman, who is very friendly and smiles. Then there is a raw of lovely doors and one of them is yours. When you open it and enter it's an apartment! Yes, you have a nice hall, a room with a dinning table and chairs and a sofa bed and a small kitchen and then a separate muster bedroom! Great as you can relax from kids - you have your own bedroom. Obviously - a brand spanking new shower room is in the apartment as well. The floor is wooden so don't worry about muddy shoes, which you will get after long walks around museums. Again inside your apartment - high ceiling, massive double glazed windows - veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery quite - no cars, no noisy neighbours. And the master bed - double king comfortable matres and bedding. Deco - art nouveau all around the building. Breakfast is included and set up in a separate building which is linked by 1 minute walk from your room. During a Blini week - we had blinis with special Russian type cherry conserve, ham, cheese, boiled eggs, Russian type porridge, little pasties, and Samovar (tea earner) for tea. We were loving it!!!!! In the evening we had a meal - (20% discount) if you stay in the hotel - it was delicious - Russian dumplings, suhariki (little dried breads), chicken tobacco, a steak - beautifully cooked and made on the plates. I would definitely recommend a small bottle of red wine from South of Russia region - Krasnodar. It's different. You cannot get in Europe. The waitress were lovely girls and boys - can speak English and will not badger you at all, they might be a bit shy to begin with but will chat to you about the city and places to see and visit. They will help you with a taxi or anything you might be interesting in. It's safe, very relaxing, warm and beautiful. One little thing would benefit 1913 building is fire places (kamins), which used to be in the similar apartments in that sort of era. It's very Russian and they were used when the central heating did not even exist.They were special and lit in a basement of the billing, so the hot air could travel up. Note générale sur /10 dans la gamme de prix : 8||||L’hôtel 1913 de SAINT PETERSBOURG serait une sorte d’institution dans le centre historique.||Il est ancien mais n’a pas le style vieil hôtel poussiéreux, car rénové continuellement. Cet hôtel s’est petit à petit étendu en rachetant au fur et à mesure les appartements de chaque côté de l’entrée principale qui est malheureusement resté trop petite. ||||L’intérieur de l’hôtel est magnifiquement décoré, certaines partie rappel un peu le style art nouveau et art déco avec des vitraux, peintures et décorations diverses jusque sur les portes des toilettes. C’est très agréable à l’œil. (voir les photos)||||Les lieux étant classés, la façade ne peut pas être modifiée, ce qui fait que l’hôtel est en longueur avec des différences de niveau où l’on se perd un peu. Au début nous sortions sur le trottoir pour rejoindre les salles de restauration et de petits déjeuners. Après on trouve dans un recoin comment « progresser » pour rejoindre d’autres zones. ||||Le seul petit reproche pour cet hôtel c’est le manque d’ascenseur du fait de sa configuration en longueur. Rassurez-vous le personnel s’occupe bien des bagages.||||On y déjeune et dîne agréablement bien dans de magnifiques salles||||Les chambres ne se ressemblent pas. Certaines sont très grandes, d’autres petites. Cela confirme le manque d’homogénéité de cet hôtel qui s’est agrandi petit à petit.||Personnellement nous avons bénéficié d’une chambre avec une belle superficie, au calme car donnant sur une petite cour intérieure. Côté boulevard ce doit être plus bruyant car très passager. Great value for a price, very good service, excellent silent location in historical center. The hotel absolutely exceeded my expectations. St Isaac Cathedral, the Neva & cruise boats pier are in walking distance. Very clean rooms, new towels, soap, etc. replaced daily. Very good idea is a free bottle of still water daily. Probably, for somebody else it could be useful to know - there are no safes in rooms, no electric kettle/minibar (but there is a fridge), and there isn't an elevator in the building, so might be difficult to carry luggage downstairs for elderly people, or a family with kids. No problem with getting upstairs, the hotel staff helps with it. This was not an issue for me, so I enjoyed my stay very much. Some traditional Russian cuisine adding to a breakfast was lovely!
