Koryo Korean Restaurant — Restaurant in Donskoy District

Very rude service and awful food! Normally korean restaurants always give side dishes like kimchi for free but here they charge 200 for a small plate of kimchi. Any other side dish is another 200. The kimchi that the North Koreans served was poorly seasoned and not very good. The taste of their oxtail soup was also really weird and it didn't have that rich flavour that it's supposed to have. They tried to cover up their lack of flavour by adding in pepper which made it taste worse. I was very disappointed to find out their Pyongyang noodles were very mediocre as well. The noodles were hard to swallow. Service was no better. The girls that work here behave like they hate their jobs and they're very rude. I politely asked one server to take a picture of me but she just glared at me and rudely walked away. They also didn't even bother asking if I wanted change when I gave them a larger bill. Prices are on the expensive side for the quality of food you get and the interior is very shabby so if you want good Korean food...

I have a lot of experience with Korean food in Canada and even in South Korea. Koryo restaurant in Moscow offers by far the best Korean cuisine. I ordered many vegetable dishes to start. The sauces used perfectly enhanced the food. Some vegetables were unknown to me, but they were especially tasty. The gyozas were splendid and perfectly cooked. For the main courses, we ordered a baked fish and Ojingeo Bokkeum (Korean Spicy Stir-fried Squid). Both were excellent, but the squid dish was beyond words. The squid seemed to melt in my mouth. I have never experienced that before, and I now know that this is how it is supposed to taste. I was enchanted by the decor, especially a large painting on one of the walls. It is not a fancy place, and this only made it a better experience for me in particular. It's bright and happy. North Korean restaurant located in the basement 10 minutes from the nearest metro station. They should put a larger sign of the restaurant for better view. Although it's located in the basement, it's quite huge and there is a plenty of space, but it can be occupied by Chinese or Korean tourists in the afternoon or in the evening. Stable wi fi. The waiters could speak better Russian and need little bit more service education though. The menu is huge. Reasonable pricing! Credit cards are accepted. Try some typical North Korean meals, but personally I prefer South...
