ONAMI — Restaurant in Municipality of Olaya

If you find yourself roaming inside a mall (Riyadh Gallery) and fancying a quick, fast japanese food, try Onami!

Onami offers various Japanese food favorites such as Sushi. Their version is nothing fancy but remains delicate and appealing to our taste buds.

We tried their Chili Garlic Ramen where we opted for a mix toppings of chicken and beef. It has a very light miso taste, yet still creamy, the mild spicy option is comforting and has that hardly noticeable kick of the chili oil. The broth that is made from premium chicken bones, which Chef Jun mentioned, was simmered for more than 8 hours, rendering slow, that created the creamy, collagen soup. We love the tenderness and juicyness of the chicken and the beef. The beef reminds us of the beef mami we get to buy from the streets of Manila, sold in stainless steel containers.

The Teriyaki Beef Bento was filling. The slices of beef drenched in teriyaki sauce was not so sweet. Tender and umamiful. The rice catches the sauce and made it really appetizing.

The mix of tempura in the bento paired well with the main dish. We find the shrimp tempura a little bit dry and quite small. Although we saw a solo order of the shrimp tempura from another table and they were large. The staff mentioned that they choose bigger ones if it is a solo order compare to the ones added onto the bento.

Our Ramen comes along with a drink that has Sprite and bobba pearls. Refreshing indeed but the pearl does not really work for us in this drink.

If you are not a Saudi or a Filipino, you are going to have your food served at the last. Been here twice and each time I have to wait for my food. Im not being unreasonable but first experience one hour and second experience 30mins. All for a bowl of ramen and a rice bento while I see others behind me getting what we ordered first. This is at the food court inside Gallery Mall. I had the Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box. Every item in it was delicious and I enjoyed it. The quantity is amazing.

The service was good but slow even at a time when it was not busy.

I would love to check out the place again to try out other options on the menu.

The seating is the common shared space of the food court so not much to talk about.
