I was pretty disappointed with the experience we got here but I'm giving it a star at all because the place is decorated well and has a nice atmosphere. Otherwise the service could've been much much better.
We came in when it was empty and didn't get any greeting so we weren't sure if we should just sit down at a table.
The food wasn't bad but it is very overpriced for what we got. We got the English style breakfast with eggs, beans, toast, and salad. The food was just warm and not hot at all. The salad also had no dressing or flavour and was just cut up vegetables. We also got the waffle with maple syrup and it was very average. Definitely not worth the $10 CAD we paid for just the waffle. Food in the Seychelles is a bit higher than we're used to, but at the cafe the quality didn't match the price they were charging, unlike other places we went to.
Also, after we got our food, we asked if we could add on one more hashbrown. She said it would take 15-20 mins for the one since the staff was working on another order. This was well during breakfast time so that seemed a bit ridiculous. We would've already been done with our food and like I said the cafe was empty and no one had come for a takeout order for a while.
I also wasn't happy with the service. The owner took our order and she seemed very bothered that we were taking a minute to figure out what we wanted to order. It was our first time and we even asked for her to come back so we wouldn't take up her time but she was not happy. Not to mention there wasn't anyone else in the cafe at the time. She never came up once to ask how we were doing, we had to go up to her and ask for a couple of extra things like salt/pepper.
Overall, I would not be back at Cafe74. I appreciate the decor of the place but otherwise the food is not worth the price and the service is nonexistent. It didn't feel like she wanted us there and we did not...
Read moreIf you follow a vegan diet, you have to come here! Shermin, the owner speaks perfect English and is such a lovely, warm character. She's super intelligent and interesting to talk to - you will probably chat to her for ages. Shermin also sells independent, local produce, arts and crafts in her café and fully respects everyone's dietary requirements. I got a mediterranean panini with vegan cheese (quite possibly the only place to find vegan cheese on the island!), I also had a cappuccino with coconut milk. Be prepared to spend a little bit more, as understandably, it is difficult to find vegan alternatives in The Seychelles. The café itself is really inviting - it's very "instagrammable" and almost like stepping back into Europe temporarily... There is even a book lending service you can sign up for. It's a little bit tucked away but it's right next to the University - she describes it as a 'hidden gem' and I have to say, it is well worth...
Read moreThis café has a very unique atmosphere with a bookshelves on one side and some beautiful paintings on the other. The place has plenty of sitting space and seems to be popular with locals. However , the food and the service are not in line with the setting. First, they are extremely understaffed. There are two people working in the kitchen and one person who takes orders, serves, and issues bills. It will take a relatively long time to get your order. Second, the portion and the quality of what you get are not that great. I ordered a waffle with a scoop of ice cream and mocca. The coffee was so small in portion, as well as the waffles.
Overall, the setting is nice, and the staff are friendly, but the food...
