I have no clue why this place is so popular and highly rated. The food and drinks were below average, the service even worse, and the prices did not reflect the quality. The concept of cooking for myself while paying restaurant prices does not resonate with me at all.
The place has a cute dog, but I am quite afraid of unknown dogs. It was running back and forth around our legs while we were cooking on the hot stone. So I kindly asked the woman (owner?) to keep it at bay for safety reasons, as I had already burnt myself a bit (which she showed no concern for by the way). She completely ignored my request and let the dog roam freely, later blaming it on other guests playing with it.
By the end of the meal, my previously beautiful (and expensive) wedding nails had turned completely yellow (see photo). I asked the same woman what to do about them and if she could have warned me, foolishly assuming she knows the traits and effects of the food she is selling. Instead of showing any sign of empathy, she became totally hostile and blamed me for opening the prawns with my hands instead of a fork and knife. First, I don't know how to do that, second, in no other restaurant has this ever resulted in yellow nails.
Oh and anyway, she did not see my nails. Newsflash: as a human being, I am lucky enough to have all 10 nails on my hands, and as a woman, I prefer them NOT yellow, whether I have gel polish or not. Anyway, no useful tips received (even though I found some good suggestions later online), only the blame-game. Very inhospitable experience overall.
2 stars instead of 1 only because the coconut shake and the cheese-prawn...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant in 2021 and again in November 2024 and have to say the quality has gone downhill since then. We ordered 2 fresh orange juices and they came mixed in the mixer with ice, so turned out completely watered down. When we complained, they did the same thing but this time added sugar, which was even worse, so we ended up ordering water. We then ordered 2 chicken fried rice and a shrimp fried rice, which were so bland in flavor…They cut up the shrimps Into very small pieces so you end up with like 4 shrimps per plate, and they were very stingy with the chicken as well. The only thing that made it better was the chili sauce, which was freshly made, that we had to request on the side as no sauce comes with the fried rice. Not sure if they were having a bad day or if we got this treatment because we didn’t order a grilled seafood experience, however all in all not an amazing experience and very disappointed a place such as this one would water down something as basic as orange juice! And why they would skimp on shrimps or chicken in a simple fried rice dish! The one thing that saved the experience was how friendly our waiter Benjamin was and how he went out of his way to make our...
Read moreAs a frequent traveller and having spent multiple weeks in the Seychelles I had the chance to observe the restaurant on multiple occasions. The owner or manager (refuses to share her title) who is the lady who sits there pretty much every night 1) treats her employees horribly and 2) tries to cut portions whenever she can. Knowing that it’s tourists who come here, and benefitting from high prices in the island, you think the restaurant is cheap but it’s not + portions are very small so be careful. The Indian chaps who work for her are great, but I saw her shouting at them multiple times and blaming them when you tell her that she gives less food than what’s on the menu (see the picture from my last dinner there..) She also hides VAT from the menu by just footnoting in small fonts so you get a surprise at the end (no other restaurants or hotels do this in Seychelles). If you think it’s a holiday destination and OK to be ripped off go there, but there are many other places nearby (ie Kafe Kreol) with better attitude and service in this great country... shame on owners like these and unfortunately it’s us tourists who let them run their businesses and they abuse...
