Reserved for a dinner at 6.45pm on a sunday night. Not too crowded , still a few tables empty when we arrived.
Pros: The food was really affordable and decent. You can try the mushroom and ravioli when you visit. It took a really short time for our food to be served ( probably between 5-10mins )
Cons: We were sitting on the table tops outside and the tables for 2 was really smaller than the tables inside. We ordered a pizza , ravioli and mushroom soup.
The pizza arrived first and took up a significant portion of the table top. The soup came probably 5 mins after and our table was already full. When they served the ravioli, there was actually no space at all for the ravioli and the lady suggested that she could bring the food back inside and bring it out when our table is less packed ( is she going to reheat it later ? ) I asked for a bigger table inside and was rejected. Mind you , there were several seats inside that was empty with no reservation sign on top. This was confirmed later because the same seats which were empty when i arrived were still empty when i left.
Ambience: zero stars for sure. Please note that this is specifically for our table ( no. 32 ). It is right beside the lift for the disabled. It is not as well ventilated as seats that are beside the pavement/ road . There is also no fan blowing in this direction. Its going to be very very very HOT. My partner and I was drenched in sweat ( the lady sitting behind me had sweat stains through her top too ) Soon my table felt more like a warehouse instead. Chairs were stacked beside us , guests with bicycles also parked beside us.
Please be aware that dogs are also allowed at the establishment. I love dogs so it is fine for me, but take note if you are allergic...
Read moreI have to say... what was once warm and welcoming became cold and snotty. The place was empty except for an occupied outdoor table.. came with my mum and son (hubs was on his way over from work). Was coldly and curtly directed to a table near the door: "corner table there." I asked if it's ok if we took the inner table for 4, and was greeted with a curt "yah".
I voiced my dissatisfaction with Lucas who introduced himself as the supervisor and he apologized for his crew's behaviour.
Lucas went on to be an extremely good host, but his other crew member's earlier attitude really leaves a sour note to the evening's meal. I notice the crew's attitude differs when "regulars" arrived. He had a "ready" smile for them. Oh well, whilst it's not my first here, it will take a long time before I patronise this restaurant again.
Snapper was ok, ordered 2, 1 was overcooked. Vongole pasta was cooked perfectly.
The crew didn't bother telling us about the happy hour promotion, but Lucas was kind enough to inform us after we ordered our 1st drink. You can OBVIOUSLY see how nonchalant he (the other service crew) was...
Picture for reference as obviously I didn't manage his name after such a lousy service.
If you want authentic Italian food, you can check out my other posts.. just a stone throws away Lucca's Trattoria provides better service with an equally hearty...
Read moreThis is the 2nd visit to Cibo Italiano for both my wife and I. Being a weekday lunchtime, and raining to boot, the restaurant was rather empty except for 1 other occupied table. It would have been really pleasant if the diners at the table behind us didn't talk so loudly.
We had the Calamari as starters, followed by the Fruitti De Mare Pasta and Diavola Pizza. On both our visits there, we ordered the Calamari. Previously, the Calamari was cut in rings, but today, it came in smaller strips. Frankly, we prefer the ring cuts as it p more bite and chew as compared to the smaller strips. How about bringing back the ring cut Calamari? Hahaha..
The Pizza was nice but the highlight for us was the Frutti De Mare Pasta. It was al dente and delicioso. To end our lovely lunch, we were served a lovely dessert of a Tiramisu. Thanks, Andrew for ending our meal on a sweet note.
We would also like to give special mention to the wait staff, Lukas. From the moment we sat down, he thanked us many times for patronising the restaurant, for his attentiveness and speed in service. He was always near and always checking if everything was ok or if we needed anything. Never saw him without a smile on his face. Two words, "excellent service". Thanks also to Joseph...
