The portions are miserable and the food is full of fats & bones.
I paid $18.80 for a few small pieces of char siew, $23.80 for half a duck and it was just full of bones + fats.
When I was eating the char siew, it had a little bit of the “not fresh smell”. I’ve eaten tons of char siew and it’s the exact same smell you get when you keep it in the fridge and reheat it.
I was a little disappointed, but this is obviously for tourists who don’t know any better. Even a packet of $3 hawker char siew rice would have tasted better.
When we were leaving, the manager I think came up to us to ask how we found the meal.
Out of politeness, we just said that it was ok but he kept asking us the same question throughout the night and after a few times we said that the portions were small & full of bones. They kept pushing for what we thought of the food because they said that my expression wasn’t too happy.
He then said that we could have requested for the duck to be deboned. Ok, maybe a service they offer but nobody told us at any point up until the food was finished.
The manager then kept asking us to give a good 5 star review, we were like uhhhh, because honestly I won’t give 5 star reviews just like that. I give honest reviews, and he said it’s ok if you don’t want to give a google review and walked off. LOL
No wonder there wasn’t a queue and it was so empty. All the other restaurants around them had a queue, now I know why.
So really disappointing, I wanted to show my friend around and this was her first time trying roast duck + char siew, so this was disappointing.
It’s not worth the money paid, $53.48 for such a small portion of food. I won’t be back.
They came off as extremely pushy by asking us what we thought of the food + asking to give a 5 star google review.
They weren’t happy that I didn’t want to leave a 5 star review, only because I don’t think this restaurant deserves 5 stars. It’s too expensive and simply not worth it.
They’re just using the brand name as an excuse to charge exorbitant prices & give you...
Read moreOne of the few Chinese restaurants in Jewel that didn’t have a queue on Sun night. They specialise in roasted duck and it didn’t disappoint. The roasted duck skin was crispy with a thin layer of fat, while the duck meat was tender and chewy. Pair it with either the sweet chilli sauce or wasabi mayo sauce (really recommend this) completely elevated the flavour and texture of the meat.
We also got their char siew and roasted pork combination plate. Both were done well, but roasted pork was a little too oily so 1-2 pieces is enough for one person. The kailan wasnt anything special but refreshing to go along with the meat, while the sesame jellyfish was a little bland. Would have preferred if they have a spicy option for the extra kick.
Giving it 3.5 stars if I can because it does command a hefty sum, and while the food was good, I definitely have had equally well done roasted meat at other less expensive eateries. They don’t offer more wallet friendly options here such as roasted duck wanton mee/roasted duck rice for one pax during dinner time. The limited menu options also mean that you get quite overwhelmed with all the meat after a while.
With the plethora of options at Jewel, this wouldn’t be one i would choose to return to unless I am...

Before I left SG, I had to dine at Kam’s roast to get my cravings satisfied🤭
The first time I tried it was at Takashimaya! And even though I took it home 🏡, it was still SO GOODD‼️ Ever since then, I’ve been wanting to try Kam’s Roast again but dining in instead cause I could imagine how much better it’ll be when I dine in🤤🤤
Everything I ordered was🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪! All the meat was succulent & flavourful💋
The roast pork was melt in da mouth 👄, paired together with that ultra crispy & crunchy pork crackling🙉 YUMSSSSS
My favourite kind of duck to have is those that has a really nice crispy skin to it & just a thin layer of fats beneath! And Kam’s Roast understood the assignment😁🤪😁
Hehe BBQ Char Siew was glistening🤩 It had a perfect caramelisation;) This is where sweet 🍬 meets savoury😎 Doused in a smoky yet sweet sauce, this was pretty addicting🤣 And although it was thickly sliced🔪, it wasn’t tough at all!
The noodles were tasty too! The shrimp roe adds that extra flavour to the noods😋 Overall, it was a tad dry but noodles were springy & QQ;)))
