I would like to say first, that the concept of this restaurant is superb. My husband and I loved the outdoor camping theme and the entire concept of using camping gear and equipment to decorate the place. The details were thoughtful, down to the lights and cutlery. We love that the owners pitched the outdoor tents themselves. Added a touch of personality to this space! :)
However, the food did not match up to the atmosphere and service of the place. The staff who served us, together with the cashier, were great. They were really friendly and also very open to conversations!
We ordered the truffles fries, salmon & broccoli mess tin and the steak with asparagus. Of the 3, the fries was the best. The mess tin was creative and the salmon and broccoli were well-cooked but unfortunately, fell short because the sauce was just... Soy sauce. The fish and broccoli were seasoned with salt and pepper - the exact same as the truffle fries. This made us feel that the kitchen was not very creative and versatile with their options and may even come off as lazy with the seasoning. It would have been more acceptable if we were charged $15 for it but $26 was just not worth it.
The beef was an absolute disappointment. It was bland and definitely not well marinated. The cabbage came without any dressing. Just plain cabbage that came out of the fridge. Take a look at my photos for reference.
It was a pity because we really loved the staff and atmosphere of the place. If they can relook what they're doing in the kitchen, I'm absolutely sure this place will be a massive hit :) I do think there's a lot of potential given this place is still a baby in the making! I'd still like to go back to give the food another chance because the theme of the place is just that good. And I hope the food will be way better the next time we are back!...
Read moreWhat a joke of a “camping theme” cafe. Maybe the staff took the theme too seriously and decided to chill so hard they forgot how to run a restaurant. We ordered 3 mains (Scout Skillet Hash, Steak and Eggs, Moroccan Stew), 1 side (Trail Mix), and 4 drinks (Coconut Latte, Americano, Buttercream Americano, Matcha Latte) at 11:30 am.
Sure, the side and 3 drinks came quickly, so we thought, “Hey, maybe this place knows what they’re doing.” Nope! After 15 minutes, the rosti arrived—but wow, it was so oily it could’ve fueled a campfire for hours. Still, we patiently waited for the rest. By 12 pm, no updates, no food, no nothing. We had to remind the staff about the Matcha Latte they conveniently forgot, which they brought out only after we pointed it out.
They then asked if everything was here. Drinks? Sure. Food? Still missing. At 12:10 pm, we had to ask AGAIN, and guess what? They “forgot” the rest of our order. Seriously? At a cafe themed around being prepared for the outdoors, they can’t even manage a small food order?
The apology came with an offer to wait another 30 minutes for the kitchen to redo everything. Unbelievable. By that time, we were done playing this waiting game, so we told them to forget it.
To their credit, they offered a 5% discount, but we requested a waiver of the 10% service charge as well since the service clearly did not meet standards. The staff agreed, but the overall experience left a bad impression.
We also noticed other tables having similar issues with missing orders, suggesting that the kitchen and crew were overwhelmed or unprepared. It might have been a busy New Year’s Day, but the disorganization and lack of proper service make it hard to recommend this place.
Never coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone waste their time...
