Restaurant in Pizzeria Kotnik — Restaurant in Kranjska Gora

It was a Saturday night so maybe a little busier than normal. There was a queue to be seated that took some time. We were seated and then a long wait before our drinks order was taken. They arrived quickly after. Food arrived quickly once ordered and was okay. My partners pizza was good, mine was okay. Probably just the choice of pizza. It then took a while to clear our table. We asked for the bill and the waiter proceeded to move menus from one side of the outside to another. After 10 minutes we asked again and still no one came with the bill after another 10 minutes. I then went to the bar and asked, they assured someone would be right out. Another 5 minutes passed and still no one. The original waiter appeared and we asked him and he then sorted it quite quickly. Overall an average experience that could have been made better with a little better service. I appreciate Saturdays in particular can be busy and harder for the staff but the whole bill situation let the experience...

The prices are reasonable, but do you get what you pay for?...the broth soups tasted of heavily stocked instead of meat. They were very overly flavoured as if many blocks of stock added instead of meat cooked for flavour.

The pizza from next door, simple Margarita is good enough for kids...but surely Italians or anyone that's visited Italy will know its poor quality...like Dr Oetker Italian frozen pizza. A bad Margarita sets standard for all others so...

Meat platter I ordered, I immediately reached for salt. I am not one for salty dishes but this very much lacked any effort to make it good.

Chicken salad...ah, can't expect much there.

All pretty much underwhelming so never bothered with desert.

...would not return.

Night 2 we visited Gostilna Martina close to firestation...and that was MUCH better!! We waited 30min to get inside but was worth it. The broth and all food was proper,...save space for the millefoglie...

we were regular guests from austria for more. than 30 years, but over the last 15 years quality of food decreased continously. here is what makes us (family) unhappy:

1. why garlic changed i guess 10+ years ago from being crushed to chopped. taste changes therefore on pizza and calamari.

2. why the bread you get with calamari was also changes long time ago to a tasteless unsoft version? no matter that filled calamari at kotnik have never been beaten from anyone else about taste, this is annoying.

3. why the cheese and ham on the pizza was changed in the last few years to cheap versions? taste is gone!

all these "small" changes finally took us the pleasure to visit kotnik for a food trip.

i know this post will not change anything but i feel better to have it written down and shared...
