Service started off quick and friendly (water and a bottle of wine ordered) but things took a quick (slow, actually) downhill after we'd ordered our mains (seafood platter for two) and our waiter did a Houdini as the clock ticked on.

After what felt like forever (our bottle of wine was almost finished) a main course arrived. It wasn't the seafood platter for two that we ordered, but after such a long wait and growling tummies, we decided to rather just settle for the wrong platter and carry on with the evening.

The manager did try to make amends by offering us two fishcakes on the house, which was a nice gesture and well received.

The platter itself was okay. The fish portions, mussels, prawns and tiny portion of squid were fine and edible. Nothing to write home about, but okay. The sides on the other hand (rice and chips) were woefully lacking. Definitely not enough for two. With hindsight, I think we received a platter for one (at least insofar as the sides were concerned).

To cap the evening off, our bill arrived with an error / overcharge. We were charged what seemed to be an average between the more expensive platter, that we'd originally ordered, and the cheaper platter, that we'd received. After bringing this to the manager's attention he corrected the bill.

From looking at other reviews for this restaurant, it seems that our experience wasn't unique.

The restaurant definitely has no shortage of waiters, but there does seem to be a disconnect between the waiters and the kitchen. The manager, as nice as he was, should maybe spend more time in the kitchen getting that side of the house in order and less time running after the waiters and apologising to clients for slow food and...

Drove around the beachfront struggling to find a spot that didn’t have queues of people waiting for a table. Spotted this upstairs place from the street so decided to try it. It’s a large area with floor to ceiling glass facing out over a good view of the sea and Table Mountain, with just the pesky Eden On The Bay in the way. Although bright and airy, there are no openable windows and the air-con struggles to cope on a hot day. The decor is slightly insipid and bland. Which brings me to the food - also slightly insipid and bland. It’s not that anything here is bad, or even unpleasant, it’s just not memorable in any way at all. Smallish portions of almost flavourless food cooked no doubt in a mechanical, corporate-approved manner. I ended up adding a lot of salt, only to achieve a weird combination of too salty, yet still flat and banal. The service, however, was prompt, friendly and added much needed colour to the whole experience. Not enough to ever bother coming back, however. Perhaps there’s a reason they had 25% occupancy while every other place around was packed to the rafters. EDIT - received a request to contact for a follow up. Sent that, and now, some time later, no response. Well done, customer service department, you...

Waited over an hour for our food (6 adults, 3 kids) on a Sunday, store wasn't too busy. Mixed feelings about the food. The poke bowl was fresh and delicious but my fried fish batter was totally overcooked and the batter had a couple of sections that were so salty they were literally inedible. The service from our waiter was hit and miss. Our orders were correct but he was inattentive regarding checking on us and taking additional drinks orders. The manager (I think his name was Success?) was polite, professional and refreshingly receptive to our constructive criticism and offered us free coffees by way of an apology for the long wait for our food.

Ultimately, I'm not sure that we'll be back. We stopped going to this store over ten years ago due to the bad service from the previous owners, but I'm not sure much has improved under the new owners.

Finally, I also would really like to encourage the restaurant to add some acoustic treatment to the interior as it is extremely noisy inside (always has been) and becomes quite deafening after a while. That would immediately make a much...

My recent visit to the Cape Town Fish Market was extremely disappointing, highlighting a marked decline in their service standards. What stood out most was the perplexing decision to serve ribs and steak with just a butter knife, without acknowledging the inadequacy. Further adding to our frustration, necessary condiments and a side dish for discarding prawn shells and bones were noticeably missing. Another point of discontent was the service regarding our children's meals, which were served last. We found ourselves repeatedly requesting items that should have been provided on the table before the arrival of our meals. The staff's lack of attentiveness was glaring; not once did anyone check if we needed anything, and it seemed their only concern was to place the food on our table and then disappear. This absence of engagement and care from the staff significantly marred our dining experience. It's disheartening to witness such a drop in service quality at a restaurant that previously maintained higher standards. I am left hoping for a much-needed improvement in the future.

The Service was terrible. I don't believe the staff have been properly trained. We ordered 2 x Prawn Tacos. Looked like the person making the Tacos spread a thin coating of Guacamole with his finger on the top edge of the Taco. (See photo) The Cole Slaw was a few shreds of cabbage. We were not given serviettes or knives and forks. The waitress was nowhere to be seen, so we asked another to please call the manager. When we complained that the order we received didn't match what the menu said, he said "that's how we make it". Well then, don't advertise on the menue that it has guacamoli and cole slaw. He then offered to bring us some avo. (I think the kitchen staff are eating the avo and giving the customers a smear) After waiting a while, we were so disgusted, we got up, offered to pay for our 2 glasses of wine and left. No apology, not even a smile, just a don't give a darn attitude. There's something seriously wrong there.
